Seven-year-old Luka Apps spent his Christmas money on the LEGO Ninjago Ultra Sonic Raider set. A sound investment, if you ask us. But the thing about LEGOs -- those small pieces are easy to lose. They don't call 'em minifigures for nothing.
Against his father's recommendation, young Luka took his newly procured Jay ZX shopping. And then, wouldn't you know it, the figure went missing, never to be seen again.
Luka, not one to admit defeat, decided to write a letter to the good people at LEGO seeking a replacement.

In this particular case, the free market decided that the replacement cost of Jay ZX is zero, plus shipping. And you appear to have a problem with it for a host of reasons, including the belief that Jay ZX has now been made more expensive to you.
Rudeboy ...God forbid that people actually use the Bible as a standard of behavior. Is that what repulses you? Proverbs 22:6
“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.”
Ahh, so *you* are responsible for replacing *your son’s* possessions when *he* leaves them lying about in the living areas of your house?
Why is your fifteen year old being taught that he does not need to remove his personal effects from the living areas of your house and place them where they belong? Why are you cleaning up after a teenager?
Why are you rewarding your son for his carelessness and irresponsibility?
<”Daddy said to send you a email to see if you will send me another one.” [emphasis added]
<You don’t know what the hell you are talking about.
Yeah. He had no idea what Lego would do.
I got a bad carton of Silk Almond milk the other week. I left a note on FB and they suggested I call Silk customer service. I did, gave them my info, and they sent me a coupon for a free thing of milk.
I hoped I’d get a coupon, but I’ve complained to other manufacturers before and just got a ‘thank you for your interest,’ so there’s no guarantee.
Sometimes I think people on this board are just too mean spirited to live. I’m pretty sure that being conservative doesn’t mean you have to be an a-hole.
Which was my argument all along: it appears that the kid learned his lesson. Now someone is quoting the Bible to tell me he did not. Fascinating.
So you honestly believe that a company that has a no question asked replacement model is not passing the cost on to buyers? Like I said “MANY times” I don’t have a problem with lego sending the kid a free replacement but I do have a problem with dads who think they should email companies under the guise that that are 7 yr olds to ask for free replacement for lost parts.
Like I said, Religion Forum. We are now officially talking past each other. I suggest you stay off econ threads until you understand the terminology.
My kids are now at or approaching 30. By the time they came along, basically everyone was using disposable diapers. Not me! When I had teenagers come to babysit they had no clue how to make up the diapers so on those occasions I’d have Pampers on hand. I recently saw a diaper service truck .. thought those had gone out of business a long time ago.
How are you coming on that letter to Dad? I’m sure he’ll appreciate a third party informing him that despite not knowing him or his son, said third party has a lousy opinion of his parental abilities.
And will you be consistent in boycotting LEGO? One wouldn’t want to teach one’s children that one supports companies who *give generously*, after all.
spoken like a true liberal. If you can’t beat me with your argument you immediately default to Christian bashing. No room at the table of “econ” for Christians because they offend you.
Totally agree. Those exact words have come of my mouth hundreds of times!
And the most painful ever to one's instep when stepped upon with one's bare foot. With that said, Kudos to Lego for their good marketing acumen. I will never again groan when purchasing anything Lego thinking of the future foot agony that will be incurred. Instead I shall invest in a good set of house shoes with a harder sole (or send them home with grandkid's parents.)
OMgosh I have really set you off and now you are just spinning like a little angry top. I will speak slowly.... My son was using the dining room table for his coin collection over Christmas as I suggested. I was the one who invaded his space and misplaced/lost one of his coins. I took full responsibility and as promised used my money to replace it. Is there something in that simple scenario that you don’t understand or is causing you undo angst? Really Altariel you apparently have to much invested in Luka and his dad to post clearly.
Angry? No.
Amused at the irony, very much so.
Now you need to back off, sweetheart. I thought there might be a point somewhere in the intellectual-detritus I’ve seen from you to this point. No longer. Now I’m simply enjoying watching you squirm.
Do you realize how manic you sound with the “have you written to the dad” mantra? Why would I boycott Lego or write to a dad who just got rewarded big time for his “letter”...Lego did the only thing the could in the face of the new moocher world. A precious 7 yr old emails you...you hand over the store and splash it all over the internet. Win/win. They gave the kid lots for freebie goodies to win favor with the Flukes of the world plus some on free republic.
The horror. A kid is happy, it’s good for Lego, and it caused an onslaught of PMS.
Well, thank you for establishing you have no intention at all with being consistent in your stated beliefs, in that case.
If you are content with giving lip service to them only, then that is between you and God.
“Now you need to back off, sweetheart.”
LOL!! Is this the line you use for all the gals who “dare” to question you or disagree with your opinions? I read that line and all I could picture was
Foghorn Leghorn getting his rooster on.
Uh, no. I don’t think of you as a “gal,” at all. I think of you as an idiot.
