2012 was a great year for live music. I got to see a lot of shows this year.

Paul Thorn
Dwight Yoakam
Ruthie Foster
Lambchop
Justin Townes Earle
Michael Nesmith
Lawrence Arabia
Purity Ring
Dirty Projectors
Wye Oak
Lucero
Dirty Three
Giant Sand
Walter Salas Humara (The Silos)
Beachwood Sparks
Buddy Miller
Pickwick
Jon Langford and the Sadies
Kieran Kane, Kevin Welch, Fats Kaplan
Sweet Talk Radio

BTW, I enjoyed Lambchop, Lucero and Dirty Three the most from my list.

Saw the Moody Blues last week.

See my post 18. If you're in Indiana, then you saw them just before I did here in Missouri.

only three of the original group left.

Lead guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Justin Hayward, bass guitarist/vocalist/songwriter John Lodge, and drummer Graeme Edge. Then they have four other musicians that travel with them.

The drummer is 71. They were good, but I felt like I was watching what may be one of their last shows.

Graeme Edge is 71, but he is the least essential of the group. The two key, irreplaceable guys are Justin Hayward, 66, and John Lodge, 67, and I think they still have some years left in them.

There was a fat guy playing a guitar at a cafe I ate at back in June if that counts.

First of all, I've lost more than 60 pounds.

Secondly, I haven't been able to play the guitar since 12/28/2011, so . . . never mind.

Been a rough year. All of the bands I wanted to see, I wasn’t able to, and I may not ever have the chance to see them again. Rush, Primus, Iron Maiden, and Anthrax, missed em all, among many others, Im sure. Iron Maiden is the only one I have never seen live. Hopefully they all have some more touring left in them and Ill get another chance...

I saw the USC Trojan Marching Band perform at football games this fall. Their 1979 Top 10 hit Tusk, which they performed with the rock group Fleetwood Mac, is a favorite among Trojan fans. At games, they only perform it if they win or hold a comfortable lead in the fourth quarter.

You are probably not out of touch.

I am out of touch with mainstream music.

Let me add The Who to my list; we can make it more than half!

Most of those guys are still putting out great music.

We have similar tastes.

I couldn't get into Head and the Heart, however. Bought the CD, listened to it once.

Wow - did a super double header just last weekend - Rachmaninoff in Philadelphia with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Denis Metsuev and Gianandrea Noseda playing the Third Concerto and Second Symphony - superb - and just the next day the Holiday Concert with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops - a great musical weekend......
