One of our cats (LT - short for Little Thing) got out the other night while taking out the dogs. She is a very special cat and we have spent a lot of time trying to find her. Please pray for her safe return.
If those on the kitty ping list have any suggestions that may lead her back home, I would appreciate it. We leave the garage door slightly up at night with food hoping she'll find her way.
Picture below.
Good idea; when my neighbor told me one of my cats escaped when I was out of town I told her to turn the TV on and leave the window open. BTW it didn’t work; but 1 day after I came home she showed up, I think because she saw my car.
I had to do that for my daughter’s cat named “stinky”
Had several cats over the years that learned to associate the sound of my car with my presence.
So when they heard my car pull in, they knew I was on my way.
Of course they had to show feline disdain and disinterest when I came in, but they were sitting by the door watching me enter.
LOL don’t they show the disdain! I always say that dogs have owners and cats have staff.
Oh yes she did!
My cat was 26 pounds of diva attitude with two color Holstein cow coloration.
And she let me know under no uncertain termsthat I was HER human and I was expected to show her proper deference.
Or be crushed under her bulk.
I miss that cat, hyperthyroid and cancer got her.
Meaning what, exactly?
what a sweetie. One of my cats was missing for almost a week once, where we live speeding cars, bears, wolves...well you can imagine what was thought.
Every day at what was her dinner time I would call her, every day I was disappointed.
On what I had decided would be the “last time” I called, she came running out of the woods like Satan was on her tail.
Prayers for the safe and soon return of your precious Kitty.
I’ve been there too— and with a skittish tortie. So skittish that I’ve never held her. But post 25 is right on. Look close by.
Our Pansy was right under the back steps the first time she got out. The second time, I left the back door open and kept calling her. She walked in in the middle of the night. I had tears of joy!
A flashlight is also good—— as was posted earlier. Good luck. And a prayer is being sent.
Praying now.
This may sound strange, but do you have any of the used kitty litter left? It’s another scent that can mark “home” for a cat.
When our skittish little tabby boy managed to get out, the lady at the shelter told us put out some of the used litter from the catbox, and it would be a smell he’d recognize. Since we have 4 cats, we were easily able to do this. Dunno if it actually HELPED, but the next morning we found him under the car shivering and crying, so upset by the ordeal he actually let us pick him up.
Just woke up, and checking in case kitty came home last night. No update.
I hope kitty came home. Please let us know how you are holding up.
That’s a great idea about the litter! Never thought of it, but it really makes sense!
Yes - I checked in, too. Still praying and hoping -———
Pay no mind. We know pets are like our kids and important too. I would borrow a trap, put in tuna fish and leave it around your house at night when you can’t check for him.....
What a beautiful baby. Prayers up that the kitty returns safe and sound.
We actually did spread some around the yard, hoping it would do what you said. Unfortunately, we have had steady rain, heavy at times this evening. I’ll try it again tomorrow. I am hoping tonight she has found a place to stay warm and dry. The garage door is still slightly open if she needs it, though.
Must have been a self-reference to post 60. That’s the only thing I can think of that makes sense...
Hope you find L.T.
any word?
I was relieved it was not LT, but that poor animal did not deserve to be left where it was. I was glad the local facility agreed to take the remains.
A local rescue group is going to let us use a humane trap. Hopefully, that will give us the outcome for which we and other FReepers are praying.
Thank you all.
Thank you for the update. Still praying that you find your kitty.
FWIW, once one of my cats ran away and stayed away for ten days. On the 10th day she strolled up like nothing had happened, and hasn’t tried to run away since. (I think she discovered that Outside has lousy meal service.)
