You are correct. It’s amazing the number of people who do not understand why the Electoral College exists.
That is a great idea.A lawful constitutional republic is now a thing of the past.
Yes, he was the first ever to enroll as a foreign student.
No.
Vote was pretty even when I looked.
A popular vote, in a close presidential election, could easily result in recounts in every single voting precinct in the country, coast to coast. It would definitely result in more Acorn-type activity in populous blue states.
A more useful poll would be “Should the world series be decided on the traditional basis of ‘best four out of seven’ games or on the basis of total runs scored (or hits, stolen bases, fewest pitches, fewest errors, fewest players, coaches, managers ejected ... etc.)?
If we have a popular vote, say goodbye to the Republic. It will be a Democracy and mob rule....a coalition of big cities will rule every election.....the unhappy restless minorities and illegals and liberals and takers control the Dem big cities now....oh, Lordy, vote NO.
Don't second-guess the Founders!

At the state level we’re gaining ground which is why the liberals need to get rid of the electoral college is growing so urgent. If it weren’t for the 17th amendment, the democrats would be a small minority party centered almost entirely in the northeast.
Michigan state government went large GOP majority in 2010 and still is. 2 more states flipped to GOP majority in decades the other night. That’s 6 GOP senators if the state legislatures were still choosing them.
They don’t have a “Hell no!” option.
What needs to be gotten rid of is open primaries. Why in the world does the GOP let non-party members have so much power in selecting who will be the GOP presidential representative?
It the republicans ever want a really candidate they need to restrict primary voting to party members only. Otherwise we will be stuck with more losers. If your chosen candidate can’t excite the base, he’s the wrong candidate.
Hopefully, as the economy gets more and more miserable, the guilt ridden upper middle class ‘Rats that moved to rural states and locals to escape their soiled nest states and urban enclaves will go broke and retreat back to their coastal urban utopias and cede the majority of places where you actually work and produce stuff back to those who do that...
They are like metastatized cells which went off and produced tumors of worthlessness in places like Oregon, Colorado, Northern Virginia, etc...
