Northeast FReepers who were affected by Sandy, please check in here when/if you have power to let us know your status. Tell us what, if anything, you need so we can organize help or get help to you. If you can, share your story with us. Tell us how you weathered the storm, what the condition is of your house or property, loved ones, pets, neighbors, etc.
You're in our thoughts and prayers. If we can help in any way, let us know!
Oh, and I also heard the great news that we’re getting a nor’ easter on Wednesday. yay.
That ought to take down the rest of the trees and wires hanging by a thread.
When it gets too much, know that your FRiends are praying for your well being.
Heavenly Father,
We ask that you comfort NGZ is his time of great need. Send your Holy Spirit to give him an overwhelming sense of peace in the surrounding chaos. We lift him up to you in prayer and ask that you put your hand of protection upon him. Restore his spirit with the knowledge that you are watching over him and will carry his burdens when they are too heavy. We ask you this in Christ’s holy name.
Amen.
The liquor stores have been PACKED!!! Glad to see some private business doing well.
1 good thing I can say is that I've lost quite a few pounds, woohoo. Just don't feel like eating....drinking on the other hand is getting me through, just like the rest of us.
Here’s a link to aerial pics of Fire Island. It sustained significant damage.

As weird as it may seem, this place can be a lifeline on occasion.
So the cats aren't useless after all ! ;-)
Might wanna consider adding a big butcher knife near that sleeping arrangement, young lady.
If work's close, and work has electric, maybe you'll get it back at home soon, hopefully.
Thanks for checking in J .. chin up and stay warm .. it'll be better soon.
Just like Sodom and Gomorrah.
Awwww, I love it...and you for your concern (((hug)))!!! FReepers are the BEST!
L’CHAIM!

About 30 Arizona Public Service utility employees are in Long Island, N.Y. working to restore power to the millions of people affected by Superstorm Sandy.
The 33 APS workers arrived in Long Island Friday and, after a day of logistics, have gathered supplies from a makeshift supply depot located near a small airport in Suffolk County and now are working to repair lines that provide power to homes and businesses, spokesman Steven Gotfried said.
These guys are ready to get to work, he said. Weve spent a lot of time getting ready and wanting to help get the power restored.
Sandy knocked out power to more than 8.5 million people in 21 states, including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, when it hit the eastern seaboard about 8 p.m. Monday, devastating homes and buildings, and flooding entire neighborhoods and city blocks, according to the U.S. Energy Department.
Sandy knocked out power to more people than any storm in history, and the federal government has formed a special task force out of the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help restore power quickly, according to the Energy Department.
About 58,000 utility crews from around the country, as well as from Canada and Mexico, have responded to help restore power. As of 2 p.m. Saturday, 2,497, 421 people were without power in the affected states.
The APS crew will work at a utility substation about 45 minutes from the airport repairing power poles and replacing wires and downed transformers, Gotfried said.
The employees are from across the state, including Yuma, the metro-Phoenix area, Payson, Joseph City and Winslow, he said.
Thank you for that comfort (((hug))).
NowApproachingMidnight checked in.
OMG!!!! Isn’t that the neighborhood who had all those firemen die in 9/11?
Now I feel like an idiot complaining about my situation. Those poor souls.
Very true. I’ve had lots of time to ponder (not good). I truly feel we have been punished. The hardest hit were all blue states, and those leaning blue.
I think He has had enough of our Godless nation. Unfortunately, those of us who are here trying to change things, suffer along w/ the Godless.
Now another nor’easter coming on Wednesday to take out whatever is left standing.
Oh, butcher knife. Good idea. Will start having that handy!
Thank you all from out of state who are coming to help us. Hurricane Irene was nothing for us, so we expected the same.
all of us were out walking the neighborhood surveying the damage and it actually looks like a tornado funnel came through....it looked like a direct line that took down all the trees and wires.
Lol.....you kidding! My kitties would be in the bat cave, under the bed in a hot second. Which is a good indication for me that someone is outside.
Security cats they aren’t!!
K, about to sign off and get a sandwich. I have a craving for a big ham and swiss hero w/ extra mayo!
I just emptied my freezer and fridge today. I hate wasting food but had no choice.
Maybe today we will get power......I pray.
Will get back in touch as soon as I am able.
Once again, I thank ALL my FReeper family for your prayers and worries, not only about me but all of us affected by this “whore of babylon” (that’s what I call her).
Hopefully we can talk again soon! I also have to see what the gas lines are doing as well. I need to fill up before Wednesday.
Alive and well. Massive tree just missed house and cars somehow. Managed to get 2 generators. Drove to PA and pulled right up to a gas pump after the nightmare of trying to get gas here. Got lucky a couple of times here but will be making another PA run unless things change here.
Mom taken away by ambulance last night couldn’t breathe blood pressure high. Last time if was fluid build up in lungs and doctor took her off lasix a couple weeks ago so perhaps that was the problem again. She’s ok and they’re waiting to get her a room in the Dover or Denville hospital. So all in all things are OK. Saw the pictures of Staten Island so I consider myself lucky
