Northeast FReepers who were affected by Sandy, please check in here when/if you have power to let us know your status. Tell us what, if anything, you need so we can organize help or get help to you. If you can, share your story with us. Tell us how you weathered the storm, what the condition is of your house or property, loved ones, pets, neighbors, etc.
You're in our thoughts and prayers. If we can help in any way, let us know!
present, accounted for, and a lil’ drunk!
Glad that you’re OK...and back!
Huzzah!
Just read that you had checked in ...glad to hear you are ok.
Electric power just restored to my Jersey City neighborhood.
DA da da da da da da BAT-KITTY!
Actually came out pretty good. Few flickers of the lights, but that was about it. Yard looked like hell, but waiting to rake the leaves until AFTER the storm paid off.
I’m fine here in northwestern NJ. We were without electricity for a day and a half. The bigger problem is getting gasoline. Lines stretching for a mile or more at the few gas stations that are open and have a supply of gas.
Love the picture!
What was funny was the shower damn near but me to sleep yesterday. Been on high anxiety since Saturday....all ok here...Thank you , Jesus
I appreciate that, and I know she will.
May the Lord bless and strengthen the folks up north, and bring them through.
Still here, in spite of the tree coming down a few feet from my kitchen, the power outages, wind, rain, water entry, etc...
But yeah...we’re tough here in PA. We can take it.
So relieved to hear from all of you. I am in the sw corner of PA and all I got was a dusting of snow. I was expecting much worse. My prayers for all who have suffered losses. Been there before, but was lucky this time.
Thank you my friend.
Had an evergreen uproot and rock towards the kitchen...heard my son yelling for me, and my son and I LAUNCHED ourselves onto it, using our weight to direct it away from the house and down the little slope next to my house. It was a +35 foot tree, not real heavy but enough to break the roof and windows if it hit.
Just finished chainsawing it yesterday. What a mess. had water come in on the back porch, lost some shingles from the roof, busted fence, power was out for 30 hours...
But it could have been much, much worse. God is good.
One thing stands out - the sound of generators humming all over the place. Neighbors were plugging into other neighbors generators, helping each other out, sharing gasoline, food, candles, lanterns, etc. I had oil lamps going and lent my neighbors a few and the oil to go with them.
And we’re good. Battered a bit, but good to go. Damned Proud of my people...
Well, one tree here is down, the fence is not fencing, and some shingles took a breather from the outbuilding.
And the power copmpany claimed that only three people were out on my road and they didn’t undersand what the issue was so they weren’t going to do anything.
Until the phone company said “Hey! We have no power at the phone box, pull yer head out!”
“We were bracketed, but we weren’t targeted. “
Now you did it.
You said “The Magic Words.”
Welcome!
