Your prayers are humbly requested for one of our long-time FReepers, Salamander and her new puppy Halla.
Halla is six weeks old and by rights should still be with her mother. Salamander had to take her and rescue her from an incompetent breeder who had let her get worms along with some serious other problems.
The pup was not eating, shaking and may have some neurological damage. The vets have confirmed a cranial injury, but do not yet know how severe.
A moment out of your busy day (or night) to offer up a word to The Lord for both Sal and Halla would be appreciated. Thanks so very much!
Prayers up what a cutie!
She’s got youth on her side, that means a lot. The little one laying next to me right now arrested during anesthesia and was resuscitated after a longer period of arrest than I have ever seen.
She was blind, unable to eat, unable to walk and went through screaming fits. Many sleepless nights and I was very close to euthanizing during a particularly bad night, but I held on and everything improved from that moment. I kept telling myself that she was young (about 12 weeks) and the ability for the young to heal from neurological damage is remarkable. I found out she’d lick up sour cream, of all things, and is still obsessed with it. So I put wet food and sour cream in the blender every day for a few weeks.
It took months of slow improvement but if you saw her now you’d never know she ever had a problem. Her sight is great, her gait is normal to the untrained eye and she is a happy fully functional PI my A most days, but I love her. Of course, I didn’t have to put out a lot of resources for her. It was pretty much a matter of waiting and nursing care, there wasn’t much else to do.
Hopefully your girl will have good results too. If trauma is the only problem she has a chance whether you have the resources to spend a fortune on her, and give her the best odds, or just give her a chance on your own. Look for those small signs of improvement and as long as your going in the right direction it’s worth giving her a chance IMO.
Prayers up.
Thank You, Lord of All Creation, for your love and mercy upon the least and the mightiest of your creatures. May your healing hand be upon Halla, and may the conviction of the Holy Spirit fall upon the one who has harmed her ... lead that one to repentance and a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Prosper Salamander and Halla, that they might enjoy the sweetest love for many years to come.
May it be thus, O Lord, may it be thus, in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray, Amen ...
I am glad to see this thread. If any of the Freepers can donate any amount of money; it would sure help his family in defraying the costs to help this little one. Several of us Freepers have already done so. Also please spread the word. This little one deserves a chance at life.
Prayers up for this pup.
Oops, sorry thought she was a boy.
earthclinic.com has a pet section. I love earthclinic.com
Praying for you both!
I’ll pray for her this morning. You guys all prayed for me and my adored puppy when she died in June, so this is the least I can do. I hope she doesn’t have neurological damage. May God’s justice fall on people who mistreat His animals and children.
Is she a baby Rottie? She is terribly cute.
Coon Hound?
Cute little pup.We will pray Salamander ((((Hugs))))
What a beautiful pup! Praying to St. Francis to help him recover and prayers for you also. Blessings, etabeta
God bless you all for taking care of her. Prayers up, for the little pup.

Praying for little Valhalla!
Keep us updated!
Prayers for the little one, Sal! She is too cute! I agree that youth is on her side. My hopes, prayers and wishes for the absolute best. Hugs, R
My pleasure.
Hope you read this after your precious nap, Salamander.
We have a new pup, too: 9 week old American Akita male. Right now, he is sleeping, but that was after an 2-hour romp as psycho-puppy, the Sharkita. He is healthy and intact and we are still sleep-deprived because of potty training and constant watching.
Yours is so young. Even 8-week old pups shake and shiver when frightened or confused. They get cold so easily, too.
Hope she recovers. All pups get worms. I know our breeder worms them 3x before they leave Mom and then, we will have to worm him whenever he eats something he shouldn’t (knowing puppies, this can be often).
What are you feeding? 6 weeks is old enough for puppy chow soup along w/mom’s milk. Have you tried any baby food? A few teaspoons of babyfood meat packs a lot of protein. Hand feeding direct from your fingers can work.
Prayers for puppy
