I’m always sorry to hear stories like this. I think it a shame that people who well at a young age weren’t taken care of by their agents or managers only to end up struggling because they never developed any other earning skills outside the business of entertainment which is fleeting for many reasons.

I've often wondered why so many of the kid stars end up so screwed up.
I don't think I'd let my kids get involved in the entertainment industry..playing in the school band or being in a local dance group or something like that might be ok. I figure they will probably end up in the military after high school or college so they will have plenty of time to see the world.

I am reminded of another star, Baby Peggy, a much bigger one at one time - paid $1.5 million in 1923 lost everything (or more precisely it was stolen)... One thing about TV stars of the 1940s-1970s: people never thought about such things as cable TV, VHS, DVDs, toys, posters etc - so much money they never received...
