Theyre calling it the swat heard round the world -- and its echo is still reverberating.
On Monday night, the school board in Springtown, Texas, voted to allow students to be paddled by employees of the opposite gender if their parents give written permission. The board's previous policy permitted only same-gender paddling.
No one really argued with the idea of corporal punishment; at issue was the question of who gets to administer it, specifically can an adult male swat young girls?

It must be changed!

“The board’s previous policy permitted only same-gender paddling.”
What if a gay man is paddling a boy? A Lesbian paddling a girl? Are there provisions for that? Probably not. Why?
Homosexuals are only about 2% of the population.
The solution is to not approve of government employees spanking children.
Unless, of course, you believe government employees should be trusted with children.
Laz is dusting off his resume and buying a bus ticket to Springtown.
I actually AM heading to Texas.
Yet, if a non-government employee had spanked the same teenage girl and left marks on her rear, CPS would be on that individual like white on rice.
It pays to be a government employee, doesn’t it?
Other government employees will enable your behavior, and you certainly won’t be charged or arrested the same way a non-government employee wouldn’t!

I’m not sure what this has to do with my observation that the rule is further flawed by omitting the obvious, grievous, error and putting children at even further risk of being a sex toy. Your point is what?

My only surprise is that they aren’t considering charging for the privilege of administering the punishment
Fine, let's get to the core of that.
Who SHOULD be spanking children?
Scientologists?
Restaurant Managers?
Coach Sandusky?
Nuns?
Postal Workers?
Where do you draw the line?
For my own family’s viewing, I choose classic television that is suitable for children. Interestingly, in three different TV series, and one movie, a male lead was motivated to spank a grown woman who had been making trouble throughout.
Programs:
I Love Lucy (Ricky Ricardo spanks his TV/real wife, Lucy Ricardo)
Cisco Kid (Cisco spanks a lying, though attractive young woman [played by Noel Niell?])
Bat Masterson (spanked the lying, corrupt, sister of the mayor of Denver ... with the mayor’s blessing)
Movie:
McClintock! (John Wayne wouldn’t hit a woman in the regular manner. Spanking will have to do.)
In my day, a strap was applied across the palms of the hands. There were no sexual overtones (of course, that dinosaur leather stung a lot).
In Texas this is tradition, we were doing it before all this PC stuff.
Swats were literally an ever day event in my school days, even the teacher could take you out into the hall and use a paddle, if he was the type that did that.
Whether it was in sports, the administration, or the classroom, or shop, swats were an accepted form of punishment for someone that just couldn’t be reached with other methods, normally this meant boys.
I held the record for swats from Junior High through high school, and it never occurred to me that they could be outlawed, but it was better than being evicted, or sent home.
After my dad retired he drove a school bus for a while. At one time he was world’s heavyweight wrestling champion so was not to be taken lightly. Told all the kids he had a spanking machine in the basement of the school. They apparently all believed him because they never misbehaved. Little girls all hugged his neck when they got off the bus and the little boys shook his hand.
When I was in grade school and you misbehaved you got to sit in the corner on a stool with a dunce cap on your head. Very effective particularly because you got a spanking from your parents when you got home.
Cisco Kid (Cisco spanks a lying, though attractive young woman [played by Noel Niell?])
“Oh Cisco!”
“Oh Pancho!”
I had a spanking in Springtown. But I asked her for it.
Ahh, I thought that was you, in your brand spanking new vehicle.
For TV spankings, don’t forget Martin Mull’s “Fernwood 2-Nite” (on youtube) where a school principal demonstrates the proper way to spank a sixteen year old girl, complete with volunteer teenager.
