The host nation is responsible for safety and security outside the embassy walls. That's one reason the Marines in Tehran were told to stand down. The diplomatic personnel kept believing the Iranian police would restore law and order basically up to the minute they were blindfolded and cuffed.

In the US, an assault on an Islamic embassy would just give Obama an excuse to crack down on Americans.

If we had an actual president in the White House (instead of a pandering apologist), the Marine FAST team would be en route to the embassy, with or without the Libyans’ permission.

If we had a real president the Embassy would have been evacuated months ago.

Any idiot knows you do not leave civilians in a country mired in a civil war. You certainly do not leave classified material in an embassy (any embassy that is staffed is likely have classified communications coming and going constantly) that can be overrun at any time by rebel forces.

I had a couple of buddies who were the last two guys left in the embassy in Tripoli back in the day. One guy was a communicator and he got a SEL call from the department telling them to clean out all the cash from the accounting office, grab a vehicle and head west for the Tunisian border. They arrived safely, having outrun the Libyan goons.

Anyone who bought the sickening 0bama line that Libya is now better off with Gadaffi dead shouldn't trouble that the Muslim Brotherhood is now in power in Egypt, the commonality between those two places being that our embassies there were invaded and our flag torched. I honestly don't think an administration can do worse in terms of foreign policy, and I include the wreck that Carter ran. Did I mention that 0bama bleated yesterday that the United States will "never be at war with Islam"? And that all of this violence occurred on the anniversary of 9/11?

0bama and his State Department clown car will do NOTHING about this but smile and sweetly suggest through their media pets that we're racist and unreasonable for being outraged. This is far, far worse than Jimmy Carter.
