ALEXANDER, N.D. It took little more than a day for 18-year-old Evan Jensen to smell opportunity in North Dakotas booming oil patch.
....The mobile venture, called Better Showers, rolled into an RV campground in the heart of the oil patch in June. A shower costs $10, with a half-price discount for residents of the RV park where the business is located. Towels and washcloths are $1 extra. The water pressure is strong, the soap is free and there is no time limit.
The business is parked along U.S. Highway 85, the busiest two-lane highway in western North Dakota, where about 100 trucks pass by every 10 minutes. The showers are open from 4 to 11 p.m., the time when most people are getting off work.
.....He passes the time between clients cleaning the facility, playing guitar and writing letters thanking friends and relatives for graduation gifts. And he contemplates other businesses.
I brainstorm and think of whats in demand here, Jensen said. Ive got a bunch of ideas. All it takes is guts, really.

I fear the EcoNazi whackos in the enviro agencies will have him ticketed before dinner tonight.
And he built the business himself.
He didn’t build that.
Having worked in the oil patch myself during my younger years and having to sleep in the field bunkhouses I can attest its a dirty and grimy job.
And its this kind of thinking that made America strong and the very kind of thinking that Obama, Clinton and all the cronies DON”T want to transpire, because they want YOU dependent upon the Federal government.
I would not be surpised to hear in the near future of this person being told to shut it down unless he pays an excessive fee for “permits”.
...”the benign neglect of the authorities in western North Dakota and the lack of existing bricks-and-mortar businesses to gum up the works helped Evan Jensen’s entrepreneurial shower venture become an exciting success, while the opposite doomed Nathan Duszynski’s hot dog stand to failure.”

HE DIDN’T LATHER THAT!
Excellent! And this isn’t a snark, but this just shows that success and prosperity doesn’t necessarily come from having “opportunity” as defined by the Democrat Party to be free education, free student loans, and a liberal whacked-job of a school curriculum. Sometimes all it takes is ingenuity, basic skills, and a little hard work.
Not a lot different than what Mitt Romney did at Bain Capital.
More power to him.
He’s saving from this to PAY for college. What a concept.
I read the article. (assuming it's correct....) The closest shower is at a truck stop 60 miles away.
This kid is a frickin' genius.
Older homes in this area have what are called “Pittsburgh Showers”. A simple spigot suspended over a drain in the middle of the basement floor. Back in the day guys would come home from a mill or a mine covered in grime, and the lady of the house would never let them through the front door. So they’d go round to the back door and shower off in the basement.
It looks like history is repeating itself.
we had one of those when i was growing up near Pittsburgh, my dad worked in construction. I never heard that phrase for them though. cool.
What back door? You enter straight into the basement. I have a shower and a toilet in my basement. But not a bathroom.
yes, you had to go in through the garage to the basement and there was no bathroom, this was freestanding.
once the queers realize the no time limit in the stalls, he'll be overun too...
I’ve seen them in Philly row homes. In a friend’s house, it was in the converted coal room.
Which is the single most important thing, if you want to feed a family and make a lot of money. This kid's daddy taught him well.
I wish Obama was this smart.
Maybe the OWS movement could pick up on ideas like this..... become part of the “1%.” Oh that’s right, their patrons are the “poor.” We’d have to foot the bill.
Needs to head over to the Democrat Convention.
