Odyssey has safely landed on Mars and is transmitting photos.
Great job on the landing!!!
I feel badly for these JPL guys who are feeling rudderless these days (due to Obama cuts to projects in the pipeline).
You didn’t have to wait long (never mind this program began under the Bush admin)
the speaker said president obama have a bold new mission for mars. What is that exactly? I thought it was cancelled

Somebody PLEASE photoshop that into a Chick-fil-A.
Have they found any Muslims there yet?
Did anyone else catch Holdren stating that the U.S. is the only country to ever land spacecraft on other planets? What a doofus; I knew without even checking that the Soviets put landers on Venus in the 70's (4 times), and that they were the first to put a lander on Mars (after a bunch of failures).
Of course, what we have done has been on a much higher level of sophistication and difficulty, but how could the White House "Science Advisor" be so pitifully uninformed? Par for the course with the Big Zero's appointments.
Bless your heart.
Your company built part of that!
Don’t feel too badly for them.
JPL is ALIVE because of their efforts!
Shiela Jackson Lee, congresscritter from Houston, knows better. Just aks her.
You are new here, aren’t you?
Uh, according to one Congreswoman Shelia Jackson Lee the flag is on Mars.
We were watching the live feed of the Control Room as the craft was descending. They just erupted when the Flight Director said “Touchdown!” That was the culmination of many years of hard work, and thousands of things had to go just right for things to turn out so well. I’m proud of NASA!
Here you go:
ThankyouThankyouverymuch.
No kidding! This is the biggest moment in our space program in decades.
If you aren’t aware, this rover is a mobile lab the size of a small CAR.
The events necessary to land this thing on Mars were nothing short of a technological wonder of the world.
It’s a very, very proud moment for our country and almost no one even knows it’s happening tonight. It’s a tragedy.
Our son has been talking about it all day. He said the craft was the size of an SUV. ;o)
So the USA has put an SUV on Mars!! Have we no shame? Are we just trying to ruin the Martian atmosphere like we've done with the Earth? /sarc
