Who says global warming doesnt have some positive value? Well I guess if you are a tofu chomping green that recoils at the thought of eating lobster, you wouldnt see this in a positive light, but many people do.
Miguel Rakiewicz submits this in WUWT Tips and Notes today:
Newly abundant and much cheaper lobster thanks to Global Warming.
A story published in The Toronto Star in print on Saturday, 07 July 2012, and on the web on Friday, 06 July 2012, (06 July 2012) http://www.thestar.com/business/article/1223031lobster-is-now-cheaper-than-cold-cuts-in-some-places-mclobster-anyonereveals that lobster prices have gone down substantially enough to make it much more accessible to the average consumer.
On Friday, oversupply pushed the price to fishermen down to $2.50 a pound in Maine and $4 in Canada.
As the text proceeds, it eventually gets to the reason for this economic and culinary miracle:Global Warming.
[ Geoff Irvine, executive director of the Lobster Council of Canada ] blames global warming and increasing water temperatures for the current oversupply. The Maine lobsters have come to market a month early, because of the warm spring temperatures, he said.
A lobster, or more, in every pot is the gift of Global Warming. An interesting new slide for
Al Gores next show.
==============================================================
Of course a warm spring doesnt prove anything and we should remember that seafood is not climate. OTOH, weve been lectured that this warm spring is a likely signature of global warming, so I suppose we can posit a connection.
So...warmer temperatures are producing lobsters who are more inclined to show liberality in bestowing gifts, especially in a lofty or condescending manner?
Only commies eat clam strips. Full belly is the AMERICAN way.
While I was up in Maine last month, I read a fair bit about this (I also ate my share of lobster). Needless to say, it has about as much to do with global warming as you'd expect.
I'm in the southeast. Last 2 weeks have been about 10 degrees warmer than normal. (upper 90s). This has been caused by Global Warming, for certain.
Starting tomorrow, temps will be about 10 degrees COLDER than normal (upper 70s, low 80s). As you'd expect, the silence from the MSM has been deafening.
It's a magic f@3king theory that cannot be made false. All outcomes confirm the premise.
Gonna need a bigger bowl of butter.
No, that’s great - thanks for the link!
I am not a commie. I swear. Just from the midwest. My CT born-and-raised husband eats only whole belly clams.
Then there are the socialists that order Battered Fried Clams versus Patriots who like theirs dusted with a little corn meal and flour.
I never tasted a fried clam before I was exiled from Idaho but I chose my side quickly, Patriot. Go to Essex or Newbury and visit the clam shacks and make a choice.
We don’t really have a choice here... we don’t have any clams. However y’all send ‘em is how we eat them. And all we get is frozen strips.
And the only affordable lobster venue here is Red Lobster. But at 4.99/lb plus shipping, Texans need to get in on this action while it lasts. That’s only $6 for a 1.25lb chicken lobster. Add $4 for 1/2lb of Ribeye, that’s a party.
As long as the butter supply isn’t impacted....
I used to travel to MA frequently for work, and they would take us to decent places. There was a restaurant way up on a hill just into NH from MA. It was very scenic. I had lobster there.
Anyway, I am neither a socialist nor a commie (and not sure you should be throwing those labels at people who happen to like clam strips or battered fried clams).
Having lived my whole life in the Midwest, we don’t have much access to the variety of seafood available in other locations.
But we can buy amazing beef sirloins for $5/lb just down the street.
I buy Rib Eye Primal Cuts at Sams, 10 pounds for $7.66 and cut my own 1 inchers. Beware Red Lobster, the first and last time I ate at Red Lobster was at a FReep in Johnstown, Pa, it sucked.
Took a trip through Northern Indiana yesterday. Most of the corn there is beyond help at this point.
“(and some fried clam strips)”
Barf!!! Just fry up some rubber bands. You’ll be in New England and you won’t be eating wonderful “whole belly” clams?
