Why has China built a ghost town in Africa?

Nova Cidade de Kilamba has 750 eight-storey blocks of apartments But it has no residents, and the £75,000 cost is too much for slum-dwellers Fears the £2.2billion project, built in three years, could lay empty for years Just a fraction of the billions China has poured into Africa in recent years

It was supposed to be a state-of-the-art city for 500,000 - but eerie footage shows how a Chinese-built urbanisation is at risk of becoming Africa's first 'ghost town'.

Constructed on the outskirts of Angola's capital city Luanda, Nova Cidade de Kilamba has 750 eight-storey blocks of flats, a dozen schools and more than 100 shop units.

But, crucially, it has no residents, and many of the nearby slum-dwellers cannot afford the £75,000 price-tag to move in.

“local black workers either paid a pittance or pushed out completely in favour of Chinese labourers. And African shops are now flooded with cheap Chinese products....”

sounds familiar?

It wasn’t built for the Angolans. It was built for future Chinese colonists. You watch.

Prophecy in book of Revelation talks about a terrible holocaust on 1/4 of the earth that kills the people. I suspect that location is Africa as the super powers manouver to take the mineral wealth.

I don’t know. Why are there so many Africans living in the middle of one China’s southern cities?

For some reason China brought in a whole lot of Africans and dumped them into the middle of a Chinese working class city. None of the Africans speak Chinese, so no one knows why they are there or how they got there. All the Chinese locals know is that the crime rate has soared since the government dumped these people into their midst.

Gee, I bet Americans don’t seem so imperialistic now. We paid for oil in cash and other than an occasional airbase, we didn’t ask for much.

While not as large, a Chinese developer wants to build a community near Milan Michigan.

Lucky for them our reputedly “republican” has signaled that its OK for resident aliens to vote in Michigan.

Americans practice their imperialistic tendencies right here at home. The elitist power structure treats the rural areas of this country as though they are colonies to exploit and control. The US doesn’t need to travel abroad for that purpose.

I think you’re right. The Chinese have been buying up farm land in Africa and trading infrastructure like roads and stadiums for mining rights. Yet they use their own people almost exclusively, saying Africans are lazy or violent. How else to entice workers than to say “we’ve already got an apartment for you?”

The Chinese seem to have a real knack for building ghost towns. I wonder what the deeper meaning is?

This is not China’s only “Ghost Town”. If this kind of activity is part of China’s housing boom, we need to be very skeptical of the economic numbers coming out of China.

I’ve wondered if the purpose of these “ghost towns” is to keep millions of Chinese laborers busy.

Unemployed workers = angry workers.

Angry works = civil unrest.

Civil unrest = a threat to the survival of the current Chinese government.

I do not thing we do need to be skeptical about these.

China is GROWING.

We sent them our manufacturing base, and everything we buy is from there.

That can only continue for so long, before China owns us.
