Word For The Day, Monday, 6/11/12
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
faineant; adj.Howjoosaythat?
idle; indolent.
Etymology:1610s (n.), from Fr. fainéant (16c.) do-nothing, from fait, third person singular present tense of faire + néant nothing (cf. dolce far niente). As an adj., from 1855.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Here is my example with WFTD.
Are the Dems waking up to the incompetence of the faineant community organizer they put in office 4 years ago?

Morning to yinz all.
Considering the damage that obama has done already, it would probably have been better if he had been merely a faineant occupier of the oval office for his first (and only!) term.
yes, he did manage to inflict a lot of damage, sandwiched in around his golf games and various vacations. A+++
It sounds as though he is, suitably, being damned with faineant praise.
I think it’s feigned. A+++
LOL! I love puns.
LOL!
My favorite bargain brand pop is Faigeaut.
Commerce secretary in hit-and-run! Focused on jobs, I’m sure.
I believe it was Peggy Noonan, of all people, who said
“why is 0bama running for president when he could be president right now?”
I love it when they eat their own. hahaha
4! A+++ good job!
My car was running rough at stop lights, so I had the mechanic adjust the faineant.
The word seems to imply more than just being lazy...
LMAO!!! A++++
Once xsmommy linked faineant with obama, I can think of no other use for the word. Faineant is the perfect description for the poseur. Nicolas and Carla probably called him faineant behind his back.
So friendless are the Obamas that they can't even get a decent, reliable surrogate out on the stump, and are reduced to ineffective third-raters like David Axelrod, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Joe Biden.
