Miracle Whip Versus Mayonnaise

Posted on 06/09/2012 9:04:20 PM PDT by FoxPro

I am torn over this.

Freerepublic.com has the smartest people in the world.

If you were to make the best BLT in the world tonight, what would you use?

I am quite serious about this.

The "orange stuff" sounds like Blue Plate Sandwich Spread.

It can't be beat for quickly putting together a tuna or potato salad!

Miracle Whip, hands down. Mayonnaise is boring to the point of insipid, while MW has a bit of a tang.

I also get “tummy troubles” from 90% of the mayo’s I’ve tried. I hate multiple trips to the little room because of a sandwich.

JMHO, YMMV

I got up one night as a kid and my dad was eating a— wait for it— Hellman's and strawberry preserve sandwich as a midnight snack! I was sickened!

My mom told me the next day during the Depression sometimes that's all my dad, as a child, had in the house— Mayo and homemade Strawberry preserves. It was the one thing he could still stomach that he was forced to eat or go hungry. She said not to feel bad that I said “Yuck” because he was glad I could say that and could eat what I wanted. I was little and not born until my father was in his forties, so I had no idea, but I remember feeling guilty and sad for what I had said.

To this day I don't know if he ate those sandwiches because that's what he truly wanted or just thinking back to those old days.

Mayo, the nectar of the Gods. Sometimes I dip my French Fries in it.

I hate when people do that in front of me. Big ole glob o' nasty white goop on a stick......shudders....

I like it like that too and with chopped walnuts or pecans thrown into the mix.

My hubby loves Miracle Whip..
YARGH.
They call it that because it’s a “miracle” anybody would eat it!

I cringe when I see someone put Ketchup on a Hot Dog, but I am a native New Yorker.

You gotta get out of the Empire State for a bit and meet your neighbors. That's how the rest of America rolls. Mustard and ketchup, you bet.

That looks way to thick as to what I remember. It was a flatter cake that spread out over a long baking sheet. I can’t tell by the ingredients— that’s why I have to ask her daughter!

It’s a bit tangy with a little sweet pickle relish as an ingredient. Excellent on bologna or for giving tuna/potato salads a bit of a kick. Stick with the Blue Plate brand though, Kraft is nasty...

We’ve got three boys and one girl, and I swear I haven’t tried to influence them with my eating preferences, but the boys won’t touch mayo with a stick. My wife and daughter just love the stuff, though.

Weird how boy’s will do that, huh?

Yea, that’s a double layer in the recipe. Just use a baking/cookie pan and a single layer.

The "orange stuff" sounds like Blue Plate Sandwich Spread.

Looks like the same stuff, but I'm sure it was made by Kraft, or some other major company. Orange stuff with some sort of little chunks in it. Looked like vomit to me .. LOL

Yes, mustard only on hot dogs. And yes, I’m also from NY!

Bologna???

Oh yeah.

A glob of cream cheese on a piece of bologna, roll up, shove in mouth.

Repeat.
Many. Times. Over.

Yummmmmy!

Yea, Kraft's version is horrible.

For a quick tuna salad, a couple of boiled eggs sliced, a can of tuna and one or two dollops of Blue Plate mixed in, and you're in business!

Oh, yeah, Have one son and he’s fussy about any white stuff oozing. Just have to talk about Mayo and he gags.
