Swiss newspaper Tages-Anzeiger reports that a woman starved to death after embarking on a spiritual diet that required her to stop eating or drinking and live off sunlight alone.
The Zurich newspaper reported Wednesday that the unnamed Swiss woman in her fifties decided to follow the radical fast in 2010 after viewing an Austrian documentary about an Indian guru who claims to have lived this way for 70 years.

Amazing someone that stupid survived into 50’s.
She was just ONE atom away from success!
The hemoglobin in our red blood cells contains a core atom of IRON and the structure of chlorophyll “A” is almost identical to our human hemoglobin except that plant use an atom of magnesium in the core...
Wasn’t talking about Darwin awards, just non-survival of the stupid.
First off, she's not from the US....and she's dead. I would predict she's going to be strictly limited two votes.
Well, now we know.

I too, live on sunlight. I do however, supplement with food and water.
I think people forget that plants are actually getting nutrients and water from the ground through their roots. They don’t live on sunlight ALONE.
What a whack-job! It’s in the running!
Anybody else remember a story from the 80s about an Eastern mystic ( the Bhagwan ? ) who achieved worldwide notoriety claiming that he didn’t eat but it was revealed later that his assistants snuck him food?
I don’t know about the Bhagwan...as I recall he settled in Oregon and subsided on many things besides sunlight, including bevies of young women...
But I lived (briefly, thank God) in Boulder, Colorado during the early 80s, as you say, and at that time there was a group calling themselves The Breatharians, who supposedly were trying to live entirely “on the nutrients in the air.”
Even while I was still there the foolishness came to an abrupt end when one of the Bony Leader’s young followers found a secret refrigerator/freezer stashed with Snickers, popsicles and other decidely non-atmospheric foodstuffs...

Article took me to this, most likely info on the Austrian documentary mentioned here in the original post.

Info on the man who claims he went without food or water for 70 years. Even if that’s possible it appears to be a rare condition.

New Ager.
I live on sunlight, too, but I get mine pre-proccessed (first by plants, and then proccessed again through animals) :p
The guy who tried to live on dark.
T-c, it's not up to me to make these decisions. Whoever calls the moving van should choose.
Could this be the May Undead Thread?
What is “May Undead?” What may they (the undead) do?
