Katy Perry transforms herself into a U.S. Marine in her latest power-pop single, "Part of Me," which addresses female empowerment and pays particular tribute to service women.
However, at least one media type doesn't support Perry's Marines shout-out.
Prominent feminist Naomi Wolf, author of "The Beauty Myth" and one of many who were arrested amid the Occupy Wall Street protests last year, is urging Americans to boycott the singer, labeling her video "a total piece of propaganda for the Marines."
"I really want to find out if she was paid by them for making it," Wolf wrote on her Facebook page. "It is truly shameful... I would suggest a boycott of this singer whom I really liked - if you are as offended as this glorification of violence as I am."

So Wolf is jealous of Perry’s talent and envious of the courage and honor of female Marines.
Oh WOW God forbid someone actually show some LOVE for our troops. This Naomi Wolf character sounds like a real POS. Maybe since Katy Perry left that commie scum she used to call a husband she might have a chance at redeeming herself

I have friends in Newport Beach (damn long drive from L.A.) and they mostly know the Perry family. They are a patriotic family. Perry sings songs that are rebellious and quasi-lib, but from what they told me, she’s one of “us”. She just throws the libs a bone here and there to make them think she’s a lib, but my sources might be right.
Nothing wrong with that. The U.S. Marine Corps is one of the greatest institutions in the history of the United States. Propaganda is not inherently false or bad. That depends on its content and what it's promoting.

Her parents live near me in SB and it is true.
As one (among many here, I’m sure), who’ve served with Marines, I can attest to the regard that Katy Perry has for them. I love Marines! I also love my SEALS, my Master at Arms force, and even the Jag Corps & NIS.

Either way conservatives can't go wrong in either place when it comes to southern California --except maybe San Diego.
