On Sundays Face the Nation on CBS, Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum explained that his view of the Trayvon Martin shooting differed significantly from the one held by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Gingrich was critical of President Barack Obamas reaction, but Santorum placed the blame on accused shooter George Zimmermans mental state.
Well, you know, obviously, Im not privy to whats going on in someones mind, Santorum said. Obviously, in my opinion, someone
has a very sick mind who would pursue someone like this. This is clearly a heinous act. You know, there are a lot of people who have a lot of distorted views of reality. Its a tragic, tragic case. And my heart goes out to the parents, too. I cant imagine what theyre suffering, losing their son in such a horrific way. All I would say is that, whatever the motive is, it was a malicious one, and a very, very tragic one.

More facts and less hype are definitely needed.
Disappointing. Definitely going to lose some votes.
>> “well survive this.” <<
.
I can’t see how.
Even most of the Republicans in congress are worthless big government whores.
All the Republican candidates except Gingrich are jumping in condemn Zimmerman without knowing all the facts ...
It ain't over til it's over ! ;-)
Santorum is a pandering fool. He should just shut up.
I have yet to get the true facts in this case, way too many stories out there.
It’s bad enough with Obama, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and company out there stirring things up but Santorum really should keep quiet.
>> “I agree, none of us know what happened yet.” <<
.
We do know basically what happened.
A thief entered a PUD community to case it for a burglary and was observad by an organized neighborhood watch patrol, who proceeded to follow standard proceedure to get a good description of the individual. Said individual objected to being observed and identified. He evaded the neighborhood watchman, and circuitously ambushed him, and attempted to beat him senseless. When no one in the neighborhood responded to the watchman’s calls for assistance, he was forced to use his concealed weapon to subdue his assailant, and in that process the assailant was fatally wounded.
This much is upheld by witnesses, and not refuted.
.
I concurr.
Basically, I agree with your assessment.
The call refelects that he stopped running after Martin after he was told we don’t need you to do that, referring to following, to which he said OK.
It’s as simple as that.
Pretty dumb comment especially since he’s a lwwyer. Thought he was smarter than that.
...well..what?
Convicted of what?
Let’s see, I supposes if a private detective every follows me for any reason, and I see him following me, I am then entitled to assault him.
Gotcha.
Bravo ! !
I can follow anyone I want to follow.
Especially when it’s a thug, not a kid.
And when I follow someone, if that someone then assaults me, I then have the right to defend myself, don’t I?
Yes, yes I do.
No, he wasn't. He said something similar a couple of days or so ago. You cannot claim he was suckered when he doubled down on stupid this morning, he had plenty of time for his staff to tell him he was off-base and to come out with a corrected view in alignment with the known facts this morning.
I have said for a couple of months that I could support either Newt or Santorum. Santorum is making that position harder and harder to adhere to.
