On Sundays Face the Nation on CBS, Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum explained that his view of the Trayvon Martin shooting differed significantly from the one held by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Gingrich was critical of President Barack Obamas reaction, but Santorum placed the blame on accused shooter George Zimmermans mental state.
Well, you know, obviously, Im not privy to whats going on in someones mind, Santorum said. Obviously, in my opinion, someone
has a very sick mind who would pursue someone like this. This is clearly a heinous act. You know, there are a lot of people who have a lot of distorted views of reality. Its a tragic, tragic case. And my heart goes out to the parents, too. I cant imagine what theyre suffering, losing their son in such a horrific way. All I would say is that, whatever the motive is, it was a malicious one, and a very, very tragic one.

He did not chase Treyvon. Try reading the facts from the city of Sanford, Florida.
“Really, I thought Santorum was right on this.”
I wouldn’t call passing judgement on someone who has not been charged, or convicted “right”.
How do you know Martin didn't start the physical altercation?
There is no way Santuckabee will win the nomination. If he does, it’s all over. Obama wins again.
I see it this way. Rick should not respond other than to say he will wait for all the info to come out. That said, this Zimmerman fellow should have called 911 to report suspicious activity and left it at that.
Sit in your car, if you see something suspicious, call 911. He went out of the norm for something like this.
Zimmerman probably didn’t intend this outcome, he may have even been attacked by this guy, but he could have avoided it all because there was no need to go so far.
This is where he will get convicted, because he went above and beyond the call of Neighborhood Watch.
If this guy attacked him while sitting in his car, Zimmerman had every right to protect himself, but if he was following the guy to the point of getting out of his car...well..
You're probably right. He's had my support for months. And I still would vote for him over Romney. But he is showing, over and over again, that he doesn't have the mental discipline to keep his mouth shut when asked "gotcha" questions.
It really doesn’t matter who is the nominee, they are the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.
An accurate assessment.
I am starting to loathe Santorum strongly.
The only GOP politician worth his stones is Scott Walker. But the GOP-E will probably throw him under the bus.
“Hes a herd following idiot”
Who attracts herd following idiots, especially here on FR.
Every week, just as I think I could be happy with a Santorum candidacy, he says something so stupid that he loses me again.
Wasn't implied or suggested. You were part of an exchange the jackass had with you.
The monicker listed first in "To:" is the person the post is directed at.
But I agree, I'd send his butt into Internet never never land, just because he's a no nothing bucket mouth, and babbles like a typical leftist/racist.
Frankly, I assumed the same thing until about two days ago, when I started paying attention and learned that Zimmerman was in fact, not White and that it was not a White community that he was protecting. That’s what the media wanted us to believe.
I pictured Zimmerman as an older White Guy, protecting some kind of White gated community. The truth couldn’t be further from this description. I was even receiving emails from conservatives, calling for support for poor little Trayvon, real tear jerker explanations of the facts. This is probably what Santorum has received, as well.If he’s too busy with his campaign to research his own facts, he should have remained silent, but with the election in LA looming and the press reporting that he might be in trouble in LA (aka - Chocolate Town), he was probably pressured to make a statement.
He was suckered.
As far as “stand your own ground”, Zimmerman's attorney also said it wasn't a “stand your ground case” but a case of self-defense.
Romney said more than the comment you have on Hannity’s radio show and I wasn't really happy with his reply either, but I don't have his total reply from the show either.
What a moron. I can not BELIEVE this is one of the candidates for the GOP nomination.
Santorum wasn’t suckered he’s just stupid. He’s a McCain twin who can’t keep his big mouth shut.
Don't worry, it's only the most important election of our lifetime...
Actually, Santorum’s reply on Friday’s Hannity radio show was not anything like the one given here. So I don’t think he was suckered. He has had a few days to think about his reply and it sounds like he decided to pander today.
