The Greatest

What is the greatest thing in sports? Is it championships? Records? Honors? In the Palestra, the University of Pennsylvania basketball arena, a plaque offers a different perspective on the greatest thing in sports. It reads: “To win the game is great. To play the game is greater. But to love the game is the greatest of all.” This is a refreshing reminder that sports are, after all, just the games we played with joy as kids.

A religious leader once asked Jesus about greatness: “Which is the great commandment?” (Matt. 22:36). Jesus responded by challenging that leader to love—love God and love others. Jesus said, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’” (Matt. 22:37-39).

Whatever else our faith in Christ compels us to do, there is nothing greater we can do than to show our love—for love reveals the heart of our holy heavenly Father. After all, “God is love” (1 John 4:8). It’s easy to be sidetracked by lesser things, but our focus must remain on the greatest thing—loving our God. That in turn enables us to love one another. There’s nothing greater.

When amazed by His love for me, To love Him back became my prayer. I sought an answer sincerely— It was: Love the neighbor who’s there. —Verway

The proof of our love for God is our obedience to the commands of God.

The Warrior

The Warrior isn’t all fight,
There’s more to him than that.
They’re brothers, fathers, husbands,
When they aren’t in combat.
Men train to fight when need be,
But once they were just boys.
Now they carry weapons tight,
But they still miss their toys.
The fight requires their focus,
They take it all in stride.
Pray for them as they protect,
And pray for those who’ve died.
To them we owe our freedom,
They put it on the line.
If you cannot support them,
Leave soon please, that is fine.

I’m trying to get a couple of things posted before going back to bookwork.

Everything in the Tabernacle, represented important characteristics or were representative of other things: from the colors of the threads in the curtains to the placement of the table for the shewbreads, the golden candlestick, the oil, the incense, etc.,

Exodus 25;

Coming into the presence of Jehovah. Holy, holy, holy, a place of prayer and worship.

Now we find many come in scanty or careless, clothing, without a sense of reverence, and a humble spirit. The beauty is in the truth of the LORD and his love letters left for his people.

We are a society that has largely lost its wonder and awesome awareness of the majesty and magnificence and awesomeness of our LORD and his Son Jesus Christ who died to deliver us from our body of death from disobedience to His commands.

Forgive us Lord. We know not what we do.

There is a thought I have remembered for years now ...
“Success is getting paid to do, what you would do for nothing.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Our society is muffling the voice of Christianity. It is banned in more and more places. What they are suppressing is legal according to our Constitution, and definitely needed in the public arena, as part and parcel of our society. How have we allowed all this political correctness to become the iron hand and rigid rule for our lives?

Let us turn to God in repentance and prayer, worshiping the LORD for His blessings, truth, power, purpose, The WORD of the Holy Scriptures. It is our times. Our Watch! Let us stop being pathetic and cowed, (intimidated) and stand up for faith and truth and Jesus Christ, in everything we do, and think everyday, and live to please our LORD, in Jesus name, amen.

Now that is greatness!
