Warner Bros has closed deals with Akiva Goldsman and Overbrook Entertainment to do another installment of I Am Legend, the 2007 hit film. The intention is for Will Smith to reprise his role as scientist Robert Neville, who was the last man on Earth doing battle with a mutated mob in New York City after an apocalyptic man-made virus wiped out the population. A deal was made with Arash Amel to write the script. The film is not being called a prequel, which had been rumored for the past few years. But clearly Warner Bros sees more room to roam on a film that grossed $584 million worldwide. The original film is based on the novel by Richard Matheson.

This is a “prequel”.
This is a “prequel”.
It was mine too. Generally I don't watch a move more than once but since I have a copy of this one, I've watched it several times.........I sure wish the dog would have lived tho
OMG! The dog! Heartbreak. Pain. Sorrow. Fortunately, the dog-actor walked the red carpet at the premiere, so I could then watch the movie 20 more times without sobbing like a three-year old.
I like to take a Saturday afternoon and bang through all three. The all have their strengths and weaknesses. Smith probably did the best job in the lonely and depressed part. The Omega Man mutants were the most entertaining. Vincent Price had the best ending meltdown.
lol. Will he look younger?
Men in Black: $587,790,539.00 in worldwide sales
Men in Black II: $441,767,803.00 in worldwide sales
Total gross sales: $1,029,558,342.00
As for I Am Legend, it grossed over $585 million dollars in 2007 and has now sold over 7 million DVD's, hardly an indication that his movies are bombs.....
Black don’t crack.
Try to contain your excitement.
There is an alternate ending in which Neville survives. I have the blu-ray with that ending in my collection. The ending of the movie lends itself to a sequel.
Based off the same book
I also liked the movie very much. Could barely stand the scene where the dog dies. Thought it was kind of clever how you didn’t know until the end that “Sam” was actually “Samantha”.
I never thought the original story was that great so I don't quite get why they have made four movies from it but to each their own.

If you bothered to read my comment, I said films without "special effects".
Trying to catch oonto the Walking Dead fever.
Ali? Ray? Not many special effects in those flicks and I thought he did a great job in both.
D'oh!!! Uh ... scratch Ray from that post. Silly me.
