>> truly hate evil tornadoes!!! Lived around them my whole life and Im soooo done! Although, earthquakes are more sneaky....happy to hear Mrs. FD is safe and hope you get a flight home for Easter!<<
We lived 2 miles from the Northridge Quake epicenter — imagine being inside a huge jackhammer: the sound alone touches your soul for the rest of your life. And, yes, JR, earthquakes are sneaky. From my childhood I have heard about “pre-quakes” (which do happen), but I have never actually experienced one (but it is good training on what to do).
Sadly, I won’t make it home for Easter. My flights were some of those cancelled as a result of the hail damage to AA planes. The revised itinerary AA proposed was pretty much useless.
It looks like I will be exploring the Corning/Elmira area of middle NY this weekend. The cherry blossoms opened so the optics are quite impressive.
Thank you both (and observers) for your kind thoughts.
“You said it, brother!”
You do know you are talking to yourself?
I bet you graduated at the top of your class!
Who do you want to win? Who do you think will win?
>>Bless your heart....a snarky rant and nobody but me left to see it. Such a shame....throwing in the cultural accusation was sooooo Obama! Go Philip!!! Annoy a troll!!! ROFL<<
Please allow me a moment to recall my first AI thread. I was not just snarky — I was snide. I don’t recall what was driving me, but one of the first and best of us pointed out my general sourness — Tammy.
There was a power in her words (Chunga, this is for you) — she was so kind, yet accurate in her analysis of my crap.
I literally had a turnaround in how I approached AI — to enjoy the good and be gentle in what is less than good. Tammy taught me the difference between snide and snark (and Jonny carries that torch so beautifully).
She left us a few years back. She was so kind and had such a beautiful soul that God decided her proper place was with the angels. No euphemisms: she died.
Chunga, remember the difference between snide and snark.
I leave it to Jonny for any follow up (and historical clarifications)
>>I bet you graduated at the top of your class!<<
Do you post to yourself a lot? Do you generally malign people who point out this rather strange behavior?
So who do you want to win this year? Who do you think will win this year?
I'm sorry to read about your FRiend who passed. Peace be unto her.
Deandre is a talented dude and he should do well in the biz.
>>So who do you want to win this year? Who do you think will win this year?<<
To begin with, I hope you take from my story the importance of respect and, to some degree, a bit of love, for our fellow FReepers. Over the years I have learned to cherish the comments from my FRiends here. It is a big deal — one you should not reject through churlishness.
As for the handicapping, C/W has continued to be a winning genre for both winning AI and subsequent commercial success (have you bought any Stoddard albums lately?) - Skylar is the best bet — she doesn’t miss a note and has personality by the mile. Mind you, like so many, I think Jessica is adorable, but she is not “there” yet.
The guys in the competition are riding on varying levels of charm, not true ability. We can take them from the table en toto.
I could be wrong, but you asked.
What do you think Jonny? Ready to pick a winner yet?
>>Deandre is a talented dude and he should do well in the biz.<<
I think that explains 99.87% of your posts.
Why? Lots of people who aren't as good as Deandre and who haven't got the chops to be on American Idol have made it in the music business. I'm not a fan of his, but if you think you can tell me he won't be successful, you're giving yourself way too much credit.
I've been in the music business for 40 years. I've played on more records than most people own. I won a nationally televised music contest with a significant payoff in my younger years. I release an album every year and receive lots of airplay. I know the business inside and out and I know exactly what these kids are going through and it chaps my ass when I see posters on this thread say vile things about them and see other posters wink and laugh. The thought that Idol is trying to ram Jessica Sanchez down America's throat because there's a PC agenda to force Americans to be more tolerant of Hispanic illegals is loathsome to me, and I've read those sentiments on this thread and nobody says a word. This girl is 16 years old, she was born in this country, and her father served in the Navy in the War In Iraq. The same thing goes for Joshua, who one poster characterized in Amos 'n'Andyish terms...this stuff is repugnant to any humane person.
And my favorites are Jessica and Joshua. To say Jessica isn't ready is to say Aguilara and Mariah and Rhianna and Beyonce weren't ready. She's astonishing and miles ahead of every female in the competition.
I think Phillips will win. I'll be happy for him if he does. If Skylar wins she'll deserve it, but she is overweight and unfortunately that handicaps her. She's great at what she does though. So is Colton, but Jessica and Joshua are the class of the group. And artistically, America has no class.
LOL!!!ROTFLMAO!!!
Just spewed OJ all over the keyboard, and te desk, and my PJs..
Best line of the season, by far...congrats!!...
Shouldn't be too hard for us to figure out who they would, and wouldn't use it on..
Also, I forget..if the save is used, is it a double elimination the following week?
I don't remember the words, but Tammy said something in a post or two that changed your mind. And I remember you thanked her for it :)
I'm glad you reminded me of Tammy's gentleness this morning--I needed it.
God bless you, My Friend. I'm sorry you won't be able to make it home this Easter, but I hope you have blessed Resurrection Day no matter where you are. Take care.
Who is the cutest male person in the competition who plays acoustic guitar?
Well I don’t know about that, but I live within a 5 mile radius of 30 nightclubs and tonight Lee Dewyze is playing at all of them at the same time.
LOL!
Actually I do listen to the radio daily, specifically Sirius satellite radio. My favorite channels are classical and the sixties channels.
As far as your list goes, most of the people you listed as also rans have done quite well in their careers. So not so sure that your claim of artistic mediocrity will hold water.
Listening to Sirius is wonderful, but it doesn't reflect the horrific state of popular American musical culture, which needs edification (and which will not happen as long as middle America is hellbent on the continuing devolution of American Idol into American Yokel).
Testone generally outsings her, but she has the charm of a lentil.
>>Testone generally outsings her, but she has the charm of a lentil.<<
It is good to see your new understanding of snide vs. snark.
That “charm of a lentil” snarky comment is freaking hilarious.
As in I am LOL (in a good way)... :)
