For the past year I have experienced increasing lower back pain. The doctors traced the pain to a pinched nerve between the L4/L4 vertebrae and ultimately to two ruptured disks. So far I have made it without narcotics.
Tomorrow I will have surgery to correct the ruptured disks. The good news is that the surgeon thinks he can fix the problem and not just ease the pain. The bad news is that he says the recovery period is a full twelve weeks. The first two weeks I will mostly be in bed lying flat. Other than that, I must wear a back brace. No travel at all for the first two or three weeks even if I am riding in a car and not driving.
If you would be so kind, I ask your prayers for a successful surgery and relief from the back pain.
You are in our prayers, LonePalm.
Prayers.
Look on the bright side. Look at all the hours you’ll be able to spend on FR!
Prayers.
A very good friend of mine is dealing with the same issues as you are except she has been on heavy narcotics for weeks. I will pray for both of you.
in my prayers
Prayers up. Tricky work, but it sounds like you are in good hands.
12 week recovery will be over before you know it. I just had two hip replacements in the last year and a half, and if I can do it, I know you can too!
Good luck! Do the PT.
God is the ultimate healer......prayers up....
I guy @ work had LBP (low back pain) for 20 years. He recently had back surgery and he is pain free and doing great !!!!!!
He did have a time when he had leg was hurting and that was post-op inflammation around a nerve......medication and taking it easy for a few days took care of it all......
on a side note....narcotics are great source of constipation......do not forgot the stool softeners.......
Prayers are with you. Hang tough.
Done!
May God’s blessings be with you, the Surgeon, support staff and your family.
Prayers sent you “Old Crow”!
I’ve had my problems at the other end of the spine C2, 3 & 4. Two operations 6 months apart. 18 months later and I’m back to work (self-employed) and praying for your speedy recovery. Keep a good spirit, LonePalm!
LonePalm,
sounds like a surgery my mom had in June. Turned out well for her, hopefully the same for you. You’re in my prayers.
LP, I had the same surgery in Rome 6 June 1977. I have not have one twinge of pain there in over 34 years. You’re in God’s hands, pal. You’ll do fine.
Prayers and best wishes!
You’re always there for fellow FReepers. Prayers up for a successful surgery and a speedy, pain-free recovery, FRiend.
