Sarah Palin Still Politically Viable, Prof. Mark Tatge Tells Christian Science Monitor
DePauw Univ. Office of Media Relations / The Christian Science Monitor ^ | December 16, 2011

Greencastle, Ind. — "Is Palin electable? Absolutely," says Mark Tatge, Eugene S. Pulliam Distinguished Visiting Professor of Journalism at DePauw University, tells the Christian Science Monitor. Tatge is cited in an article headlined "Sarah Palin speaks, but are Americans heeding her anymore?".

The professor sees Palin as a viable contender to potentially serve as running mate to Newt Gingrich, should he emerge as the GOP nominee. "Such a partnership is not out of the question,” Tatge tells the publication, adding that he believes that Palin would likely need to "atone for quitting the job of governor."

Gloria Goodale writes, "Less-likely candidates, he says, have made it to the top spot. 'Consider the former B-movie actor who was seen as a bit of a lightweight with a messy divorce in his past,' says Professor Tatge, 'and Ronald Reagan not only got elected but went on to become a two-term president.'"(continued)

I gotta believe there’s no way in hell Sarah Palin would agree to be anybody’s VP candidate, much less Newt’s.

For the record, I did not enter this thread and express my thoughts on this topic.

She is my write-in candidate at the moment. I voted against Perry twice, but now he seems to be the one I would vote for.

I think she would do it in a heart beat.

Viable or not, I don’t care. I’m still going to vote for her via “write-in.” It’s the closest thing I can think of to kicking in the teeth of the GOP Establishment scumbags, which at this point is what I crave more than anything.

You must not have read her book, "Going Rogue". In the book, she emphatically states that she'll never run as a VP candidate again, nor will she ever run third party.

It's the Oval Office or nothing for Sarah Palin (R-AK).

I was hoping Newt would be her VP or Chief of Staff...

I wonder if she is doing any private polling to see if she could come in late. She would have at least saved her family six months of primary fights.

My wife thinks the reason Sarah did not run is that the Glen Rice story could have only come from her sister’s roommates. If that “secret society of trust” has turned against her, they could say almost anything and it would keep the presses running 24/7 with every time Sarah had one beer too many.

I know I would like to place my college years under permanent seal.

Newt has to be better than running with McInsane and his Romneyite posse (see Nicolle Wallace, Steve Schmidt and etc.)

Well, if there is anything left of a country that is communist, Sarah Palin could never win.

If she ran now, she would be Bachmanned.

She didn’t run because she doesn’t want the job. If she did, she would not have been back out trying to sell another reality show starring Todd.

I’m going to anger a conservative by telling him what I believe is the TRUTH. Sarah Palin did NOT “quit” as governor of Alaska. IMO she was DRIVEN out by a loathesome media trumpeting a long parade of “ETHICS CHARGES”, each of which she’d have to defend at the FINANCIAL COST OF EVERYTHING SHE AND HER HUSBAND HAVE EVER WORKED FOR.
Those “ETHICS CHARGES” strangely disappeared the moment she was no longer governor. If there was any truth to them she’d have been hounded till the end of time, but the vanishing of those charges convinces me I am right.
Sarah, we never got a real chance to know you. Our loss.
Oh, Windflier, I know you didn’t say she quit, but your lagline prompted my post. Great one. ALMOST as good as mine,.

That idiotic Rice story started with the Palingates blog over two years ago, coming from the same moonbat psychos who claimed Palin was faking her pregnancy and Trig wasn’t her kid. Same with the stories about Palin being a coke-snorting dope-fiend and a zillion other similarly bizarre accusations. They’re now onto ‘new’ things like Todd apparently personally pimping out some prostitute at a Wasilla massage-parlor, and also claiming Todd’s not the father of Track.

She might quit that position if you file a frivolous lawsuit though.

She hates that.

Even if the Glen Rice story is true, so what? I thought the Left had no problems with interracial dating. Or do they think the Tea Party and other conservatives would turn on her? They backed Herman Cain, for goodness sakes!

I've been conjecturing and advocating for this pairing since Palin announced she would not run.

I'm right there with you. If Mitt winds up winning the nomination, I will write in Sarah Palin, and walk away from the voting booth with a clear conscience.

A Mitt presidency would only be marginally better than an Obama second term. I will NOT vote for either of those scenarios under ANY circumstances. I'll vote for what I believe in, and go home to dig my fox hole.

At this point, I’d welcome a “Draft Sarah” movement but I’d be even happier to see a “Draft DeMint” movement.

No, that doesn't anger me, because it's the absolute truth. I've previously posted what you just wrote, a hundred times on this website.

Sarah had her feet firmly planted on the path to the White House, but she was driven into the ditch by someone (and likely more than one someone).

She remains the biggest threat to the globalist ruling class establishment that exists in the Republican stable. If she were to enter the race (even) now, it would literally shift the axis of the earth, it would cause so much consternation on the left.

I don't know what the possibilities for success are at this late date, but I've read lately that, because of new changes in the Republican primary rules, a late challenger could actually win the nomination this year.

I still hold out hope that Sarah will see the path forward and answer the call of duty for her country.
