Thank you, jaycee...hoping all is going well at your house! I’m ALMOST finished with all the candy making. Finally got smart this year and cleaned up everything as I went along. Seemed to take me longer but not a huge mess afterwards! :)

Old fashion is the way to go!
Not a fruitcake person but I do make one with gumdrops...it weighs 5 lbs..lol. When it's made several weeks before eating it is sooo yummy.

I wanted to share my little Christmas story with you all as I thought you’d appreciate it. My hubby had always wanted me to make a fruitcake. Well, no one really loved fruitcake and you all know how Christmas is.....shopping, wrapping, getting groceries, getting parties readied. He worked long hours all that time and when he came home, he would change into comfy clothes and out of that suit and tie and would have a couple of hours to work in his home office.
Christmas of 2003, I decided to make a fruitcake for him. I had no idea at all that this would be his last Christmas. He passed away in May, 2004, and you all will never know how often I have thought of that first and last fruitcake I made for him. He loved it so. It turned out beautiful. The day after I made it, these friends dropped by and we served them the fruitcake with coffee and we all enjoyed it.
There’s been many things that happened that last year that I now think about and am so very grateful for. On his last Christmas, he enjoyed the fruitcake that I made for him. I don’t regret a minute of it. At Christmas time, we think of the good times and the sad times. This story is just a bit bittersweet for me. I know he must have a lot of fruitcake in Heaven. Thanks for listening.
