I'm watching a colorized version of the "Big Red One" right now on the Military channel.

Watch it. And think about how it is America has come to have sent our manufacturing abilities, to Communists.

Don't think about watching it. Watch it.

And think how far we have fallen.

Wake up America. We are wildly, off course.

I see a definite silver lining in our crappy economy. Its forcing a lot of us to return to the true meaning of Christmas and take stock.

God, you are so friggin' smart.

If only the world would listen to and obey you, all our problems would be solved and we could live in a Walden paradise in peace and prosperity forever.

And don't let anybody tell you anything different.

Are you suggesting that buying things from China has something to do with fealty to Christ?

Do you have something against pre-teen slave girls having jobs? lol... try to be humane and have a heart... lol

Went to local pharmacy to buy my greeting cards for Xmas and Hannukah.

Looking through the Hallmark brand of Xmas cards, not a single one had a true “religious” message on the front cover. Not a single one.

You know China is really not communist anymore - not in the classic sense anyway. They allow private property, encourage capitalism, mostly allow their people to travel if they can afford it, etc, etc.

If anything, China is more a fascist state. They are totalitarian politically, but not a true repressive marxist/leninist regime in that there is growing economic and even personal freedom as long as you don’t challenge the state in any way.

You post about China and manufacturing a lot. Ever been there? It may not be what you think it is. It’s also a giant house of cards that is nowhere near as strong as you might think. Remember in the late 80’s when we were all supposedly turning Japanese and the rising sun was going to take over all manufacturing - how’d that turn out? A lost decade or two later and we’ve moved on to the next economic boogeyman. China is nowhere near as strong as you imagine it is.

Our manufacturing problems are largely of our own making. Too much government interference and unions that became too strong and destroyed or made uncompetitive everything they touched. If it weren’t China, manufacturing would have just moved more heavily to India, Indonesia or somewhere else. The problem is mostly one of failed American policy. You’d be better off advocating less regulation, lower corporate taxes and less unionization. Those are things we can actually do to become competitive instead of knee jerk tariffs and starting idiotic trade wars.

Kind of a false choice there. Most of the stuff I buy, just like all Americans actually, doesn’t come from China. But I’m not really into the whole religion thing, and half the people I’m buying gifts for are non-Christian of various flavors.

You gotta stop obsessing. It’s not all about China, and it’s not all about WalMart, and your one trick pony BS is tiresome, boring, and often times factually challenged.

Just breathe. You don’t want inexpensive goods from China don’t buy them.
Christmas is what you make of it, apparently you want to make it about b#itching and moaning.

I am torn by this. Of course Christmas is about the birth of Christ. However, Christmas is an important time for stores. This is the day that they receive 75-80 percent of their yearly sales. If consumers did not buy during this time especially as much as they spend then we would not have many stores and of course workers would be fired. I think a little balance could be involved though.

Ah, well. December 25th is a pagan holiday, anyway. No one knows the true date of “Christmas”, nor is there any biblical command to celebrate it, or even a mention of celebrating it.

Apostate and commie countries always collapse. China will be no different, because Christmas is about Christ, still.

>> And think how far we have fallen.

I share your sentiment, but...

It’s not the consumers’ fault. Americans are too proud and too entitled to make widgets. If you believe otherwise, start up a widget factory — assuming you can survive the bureaucracy, regulations, unions, etc.
