To: Cringing Negativism Network

I am torn by this. Of course Christmas is about the birth of Christ. However, Christmas is an important time for stores. This is the day that they receive 75-80 percent of their yearly sales. If consumers did not buy during this time especially as much as they spend then we would not have many stores and of course workers would be fired. I think a little balance could be involved though.

So enact import tariffs and let Americans make Christmas presents for other Americans.

If people didn’t have last years Christmas buying to recover from and this years Christmas buying coming up, spending would even out throughout the year. I doubt that the savings rate would go up without Christmas spending.
