The Chevrolet Volt has been named the most fuel efficient car of all time by the Environmental Protection Agency. Well, at least since 1984.

Well, at least when it’s not moving.
The Soviet Press just loves the car.
As long as you pretend electricity is free. :)
Wouldn’t have anything to do with the government paying for it in the first place would it? I hear it is also a great fuel source for garage fires.
I thought it got about 20mpg after you did the coal to gas conversion. That’s pretty crappy for a golf cart.
That certainly explains it’s marketing success!
I was looking at the fuel economy and am curious if they are saying that it costs $1.08 to charge the car for 4 hours at 240v?
I’m calling BS on that...

Well, that’s certainly putting a positive spin on a failing idea.
My son’s 9 volt RF Monster Truck he got from Radio Shack is more fuel efficient - and you won’t see one of those on the freeway either.
What do you pay for 16 kiloWattHours?
How much coal is burned to allow the Volt to be the most fuel efficient car of all time?
(By the way... where can one go to find a nice chart of coal oil gasoline costs energy/volume energy/mass supply lines economics breaking down the amount of natural resources used for a mile travelled in an electric car vs a mile traveled in a gasoline car.)
This was in the 1980's.
Not when the weather is 20 degrees. Battery capacity is cut in half.
Whoops, 16 kWH is the capacity of the battery, but they only charge up to 80% and discharge down to 30% capacities to extend battery life.

So make that question, what do you pay for 8 kWH?
two vehicles come to mind that will beat the volt for MPGs:
chevy sprint/geo metro with 3 cylinder stickshift
volkswagen rabbit diesel
