Today is a special day for my dad Dan. He is a veteran of the Korean War. He fought in the battle at Chosin Reservoir. He has won a purple heart and bronze star. He is the most amazing man to his seven kids and wife of 58 years.

I will continue to think about you all and to pray for him and for your family. My husband’s Dad was a Marine pilot (ww2 and Korea) and he was tough, but he also had a soft spot for kids and animals. Gotta love those Marines! God Bless them all! <3

These threads can be very comforting...I'm going a bit off topic here, but under 'links' on my homepage, you'll see my "Prayers for grand daughter' thread.
When baby Grace died, wifey and I printed out the many pages involved and took it to son/daughter-in-law the evening before the funeral; they told us the next morning that they'd been up much of the night reading it and feeling not so alone in their grief.

I just wanted to give you all an update on my dad. He is in his last weeks now, after fighting the most courageous fight this past year. We know that this was because he is a Marine and never gives up. But now, his body is tired and he is struggling so much. His doctor is amazed that he has held on this long and knows it's because he is such a fighter.
He is not able to see well anymore to read (macular degeneration) but still enjoys getting cards (read to him by my mom). If anyone is interested in sending him a greeting, private message me and I will send his mailing address. If I can, I am asking for continued prayers for my dad, my mom and for the rest of my family. God Bless! and Semper Fi

I'm former Marine - VN combat vet - artillery up on the DMZ. Please give my regards to your father and tell him he was one of my heros - and still is.
Something else you might relate to him ... in the movie Full Metal Jacket, Gy/Sgt Hartman says the following during graduation:
"Today, you are Marines. You're part of a brotherhood. From now on until the day you die, wherever you are, every Marine is your brother.
Most of you will go to Vietnam. Some of you will not come back. But always remember this: Marines die. That's what we're here for.
But the Marine Corps lives forever. And that means YOU live forever."
He'll be in my thoughts and prayers. Semper Fi ...

Prayers lifted, for this great man, and for his family. We are in debt, for his service, and words on a page cannot express the depth of our gratitude.
May God hold you all close in these last days.
