Today is a special day for my dad Dan. He is a veteran of the Korean War. He fought in the battle at Chosin Reservoir. He has won a purple heart and bronze star. He is the most amazing man to his seven kids and wife of 58 years.

Today his is also fighting cancer of the lungs, brain, spleen and liver. Of course, he is a marine and is fighting with amazing courage and determination. I was hoping the FR family could give him encouragement, appreciation for his service to his country. And prayers, lots of prayers. Thank you!

WOW, the frozen Chosin??!! Hes a walking miracle..
Two years ago I attended a reunion of the (artillery) battery I was with in VN. Also there was the battery's former Gy/Sgt who I vaguely remembered.
During the evening his wife mentioned that he had made the landing at Inchon ... AND ... survived the Chosin Reservoir.
I was absolutely flabbergasted to be speaking with a living icon of MC history.

Thank you everyone. I will send him this link and I hope it will brighten his day. I am trying to ping Mark Levin. Dad listens to him every evening here on WHLO. Hoping he could pop in with a message. Thanks again.

I read about Ku Nu Ri, Naktong, the ‘frozen Chosin’ and other fights.... It is hard to believe that human beings can survive that kind of thing.

I wouldn’t be surprised that if heaven has an honor guard, it’s made up of Marines like your Dad. He just doesn’t need to join them yet. God bless.

And I should know better. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Not ‘won’. Sorry Dad!
