Waiting . . .
November 9, 2011

Autumn is hunting season here in Michigan. For a few weeks every year, licensed hunters are allowed to go out into the woods and hunt for various species of wildlife. Some hunters build elaborate tree stands high above the ground where they sit quietly for hours waiting for a deer to wander within rifle range.

When I think of hunters who are so patient when it comes to waiting for deer, I think of how impatient we can be when we have to wait for God. We often equate “wait” with “waste.” If we’re waiting for something (or someone), we think we are doing nothing, which, in an accomplishment-crazed culture, seems like a waste of time.

But waiting serves many purposes. In particular, it proves our faith. Those whose faith is weak are often the first to give up waiting, while those with the strongest faith are willing to wait indefinitely.

When we read the Christmas story in Luke 2, we learn of two people who proved their faith by their willingness to wait. Simeon and Anna waited long, but their time wasn’t wasted; it put them in a place where they could witness the coming of Messiah (vv.22-38).

Not receiving an immediate answer to prayer is no reason to give up faith.

Not ours to know the reason why
Unanswered is our prayer,
But ours to wait for God’s own time
To lift the cross we bear. —Anon.

Waiting for God is never a waste of time.

Adorable, yorkie!

I don’t know if or when I’ll be back on the thread today as I have that eye appointment today. Sometimes afterwards, the screen is not good for the eye, if you know what I mean!

Gwen is taking me today. They make someone bring you for this or I would go alone!

Cute puppies, Jaycee!

We are having our first snow this morning.
Huge snowflakes.

Ground is still warm, so little accumulation is expected.

I need to go make some hot tea.

A warm puppy to snuggle with would be nice too.

ALL: please say a prayer for my sister who has been in the hosptial for 2 days. Pray for her to have restored health and strength and peace. Her name is Erica. Thanks in advance for your care.

You may never know (except in heaven someday) what a huge encouragement your testimony, shining faith, marvelous attitude, and prayers on behalf of others are to those reading them. But I hope you get a hint by our responses! May God continue to use your life as a light for others in this dark world!

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 5:14-16

This is not intended to criticise or to preach, it is simply how I see it, something to think about.

Feral hogs have multiplied and become a menace, uprooting gardens FLOWER BEDS, LAWNS IN THE SOUTH, It IS EASY TO UNDERSTAND WHY THEY MUST BE SHOT. I SUPPOSE THE MEAT IS USED FOR DOG FOOD OR SOMETHING. DEER ON THE OTHER HAND DO OVER POPULATE IN IDEAL locations and CIRCUMSTANCES FOR THEM. STILL ... THEY (sorry for the caps, a mistake,) here in Texas, and the drought we are having, deer are too weak to feed their fawns. SAD!

God gives life. Man can not. We can care for it, protect it, shelter it, but we can not give life. To kill for sport is something I do not understand really. Fortunately most will eat the deer they kill. If overpopulated it is needed to thin them a bit. Kill the older weaker ones and spare the strong and young. When the light dies in their eyes, it is a loss we seem to care little about.

Life is precious, and we will do well to consider whether or not it is a good idea to take life for no reason rather than sport.

Pause

When I was young we went jack rabbit shooting. From the start it was something I did not want to do. Even a turtle in the road, I want to stop and move. In fact I now have a dozen or so turtles in the back yard, all found in the street.

Guess that makes me strange.

I would kill a charging bear, wolf, etc. otherwise I think about their life comes from God.

All forms of life want to live. Just as we do. It is how God created all living things..

Yes, I eat meat, chicken, fish.
