Sesame Street has a new muppet who is hungry for more than just cookies.
The iconic kids show is set to unveil a new impoverished puppet named Lily, whose family faces an ongoing struggle with hunger issues. Lily will be revealed in a one-hour Sesame Street primetime special, Growing Hope Against Hunger, which is being sponsored by Walmart. The special will star country singer Brad Paisley and his wife Kimberly Williams Paisley, as well as the Sesame Street Muppets.
Food insecurity is a growing and difficult issue for adults to discuss, much less children, said the Paisleys in a statement. We are honored that Sesame Street, with its long history of tackling difficult issues with sensitivity, caring and warmth asked us to be a part of this important project. The special will share the stories of real-life families to raise awareness of hunger issues in the United States, as well as strategies that have helped these families find food. The United States Department of Agriculture estimates that 17 million American children nearly 1 in 4 have limited or uncertain access to affordable and nutritious food. Walmart is sponsoring the show as part of a $1.5 million grant toward the initiative and holding screenings in select communities.
The special is set to air nationwide on Oct. 9.
“Food Insecurity”. *rolls eyes*
Proggies love semantics, don’t they? Ugh!
Funny, the segement of our society that has the largest percentage of ‘Morbid Obesity’ are the ‘poor’.

Food insecurity? Hmm, I take that as meaning someone who overeats “comfort food” because he/she is insecure. Ah, the loveliness of political correctness.
All eyes will be on Cookie Monster to share his cookies and Kermit to give up his legs so this poor muppet can eat.
Shut up and sing, Brad!
I wouldn’t let my kids watch Sesame Street today. Pure indoctrination. I noticed Walmart is involved again. And another thing, Kimberly ruined Brad Paisley.
Is Sesame Street also going to introduce a bureaucratic regulator muppet, who aims to make sure that there are 27,000 words regulating the sale of cabbage, stipulating the fuel usage of harvesters, taxing carbon emissions of farm equipment, banning GMOs, and otherwise “ensuring food security?”
This character would be closer to the truth.
It’s going to be some serious must-see TV when Lily the Hungry Muppet hunts down Big Bird, guts him, and roasts him on a spit.
This is racist!!!! showing a red headed girl.. a nappy black haired chick would not be allowed I understand,, but please lay off the red heads.. we are an endangered species..
Teach the kiddies how to use their food stamps and get free meals at school.
"1 leg, 2 legs.... ah ah ah ah..."
They can also just roast up ol'e Miss Piggy.
RE: Is Sesame Street also going to introduce a bureaucratic regulator muppet
I don’t see why not. They already had Ralph Nader as Consumer Advocate who was part of the song : “Who are the people in your neighborhood?”

They can go ‘Dumpster Dining’ in Oscar’s garbage can.
Hungry? She looks stuffed to me!
They should have made the puppet obese. It is rather comical to me that our poorest are the most obese, yet they claim to have “food insecurity.”
Problem is.... She’s not fat enough.
As we know; there are no hungry children in America. There are children with idiot parents who malnourish them with junk food and sugared-up sodas - but no truly hungry children.
And the kids who do have “food insecurities”? They are obese like their idiot parents.
