Canary Islands Accumulated Earthquake Energy Increasing Parabolically

This chart shows the accumulated earthquake energy since about early August around El Hierro in the Canary Islands. This is the volcano group that can generate a 150 foot tall tsunami on the east coast under certain circumstances. Heads up!

What does this mean? An earthquake seems to be building which could lead to a 150 ft. tsunami?

Who needs to worry about this? The entire east coast? My dad is in NC, 6o miles from the coast- should he worry?

Probably not - if exactly the wrong things happen, you get a 120-180 foot wave that goes 5 miles inland across all of North America and most of South America, but recent research shows that most La Palma events are smaller.

Very good ~ that tsunami would probably have to be a couple of thousand feet high to make it to Monaco ~ now not saying it can’t do that, but that would be a rare occurrence.
