The rest of college football formally surrendered to the Southeastern Conference Sunday, ending a decades-long war that had become hopelessly one-sided.
The surrender took place just outside Appomattox, Va. SEC officials declined to explain why this site was chosen.
"What began 85 years ago in Pasadena has been finished today," the SEC said in a statement, referring to Alabama's 1926 Rose Bowl victory over Washington, which established Southern schools as a threat. "This is our sport now."

That is the funniest article I have ever read in the WSJ.
Our October schedule guarantees a rough month.
No way man Gators are gonna roll Back that Tide.
Lewisville High School is joining the SEC?
Steve my good man...you're about 2 days off the beaten trail. The Big 12 is alive and healthy....with OU as a integral member... I expect that they will end up stronger than ever at the end of the day. A&M probably pissed in their cadet mess kits by jumping to the SEC to get away from UT. UT being the elephant in the room has had some of their tusks whittled down to size.....with the new Big 12 rules. Time will tell. As for Nebraska......nobody will miss them...besides it's too damn cold up there for half the season anyway...let them go play with those other yankee schools and freeze their azzes off...
Let’s see...is gator meat better grilled or roasted??? ;^)
Well - you know - it takes time for the news to get out tot he left coast ;-)
Why not... the SEC should have an even number of schools :-)
"Farmers Fight" Aggie yell:
Farmers fight!
Farmers fight!
Fight! Fight!
Farmers, farmers fight!
I wonder what elephant meat tastes like?
Hey, I lived in Lewisville for years....GO FIGHTING FARMERS....used to be a wide spot in the road whose claim to fame was a great peanut butter factory, which my kids ate a bunch of...now a metropolitan area. It got “all growed up” and retains little of its small town charm!
Go Flower Mound Jags!
It’s real tough, but not likely you’ll get a taste this year! ;^)
I believe the big 12 got corrupted by Texas. First they move the HQ from Kansas city to Texas and then they move the championship game to Texas. And then there allowed to create their own network. I think the former big 12 commish was dirty. I tell my friends the worst thing a conference can do is take Texas.
