The Palin "Cult"

The Sarah Palin “Cult”

I’ve been trying for awhile to get my mind wrapped around all this, and would like to offer these thoughts going into this election cycle….

I first stumbled across Free Republic when checking out Obama's eligibility issues prior to the 2008 election. I first experienced the Drudge Report after listening to Rush during the Lewinsky scandal.

When I really got into FR I felt like I had found the mother lode of conservatism; an eclectic group that regularly mixed it up over issues I hadn’t thought of as issues before.

For instance, I had never considered myself a “statist” for enjoying the benefits of the REA…

My granddad left the farm in Missouri during the dustbowl and joined the CCC; going on later to the US Army and the State Department and a gun shop- I hadn’t thought of him as a communist before!

Fast forward to Sarah Palin; even among Republicans, her advocates are known as the “Palin Cult”, “Palinistas”, and “Palin-Bots”.

These are terms of marginalization that are designed to evoke unfounded responses in the uninformed which we must counter.

A “cult” is a heretical religious group, straying from the sound doctrine of the orthodox mainstream. While there is certainly a religious component of conservatism (we wrestle with secular conservatives and libertarians) who believes the descent of the USA has a distinctly spiritual aspect; there is no deviation from orthodox interpretation of scripture on which to hang a tag of heresy here. The picture is painted as such, however. God chooses leaders and anoints whom He sees fit (See Romans 12). When we acknowledge this we are now cultists? The “bitter clingers” are non-orthodox heretics?

“Palinistas” are the socialist rebels equated to the “Sandinistas” of Nicaragua. Supporters of SP are neither socialist nor rebels- quite the opposite. They are patriots, working class, veterans, taxpayers and voters who are in fact the backbone of this country. Once again, this is a reversal of the truth.

“Palin-Bots” implies a robotic, non-thinking blind support programmed from some external headquarters. Since Sarah didn’t come through the Ivy League system, she must be intellectually inferior as are her “bot” supporters. Guess what- most of the country didn’t come through that system, either. We manage to make it through life anyway, and are much more resourceful and determined than the elitists. We know how to actually work.

In a nutshell: We’re not a cult; we are mainstream, orthodox, and Scripturally- based.

We are not rebels; we are restorative and Constitutionally-based

We are Free People; who think for ourselves, reject the elitists and have the will to defend this Republic against the many challenges, internal and external.

God Bless Sarah Palin!

The Sarah Palin “Cult” ...... I’ve been trying for awhile to get my mind wrapped around all this

Trying wrapping your mind around this.

Last week, on Free Republic, a Palin supporter that does deserve the name of "Cultist" posted the following:

"If Sarah does not get it (the Presidency), Obama can have it."

We also have a laudable penchant for defending Sarah from venal, vile, disingenuous assaults, as we know for a fact she has put up with more than her share of them than any 50 actual scumbags should have to deal with.

And she is no scumbag. You want to come after Palin, you gotta go through us first. You've been warned, and you know who you are, and so do we. We don't even have to see you any more... we can smell you coming.

Honestly, I don’t think Palinites are cultists, by any means.

But here is my personal view:

She has waited too long to get into the race, and I personally think history will prove it. She has now missed two major debates. Perry only missed the first one. If Palin strikes three on all debates, I don’t think she has a chance (even including the notion that Reagan himself only declared in November). Given who she has supported in elections of the non-Presidential variety, with her Tea Party reign, I don’t think she is solid. Given Perry, at least we know what he’ll do. I don’t agree with everything about him, but at least he can hit the major points, and he is electable. I don’t get that sense of professionalism from Palin. I really think Obama could mop the floor with her.

I also get the impression from Perry that he will be a consummate professional in office, where-as I think Palin will run from her troubles like she did in Alaska. But if she is President, she will have no where to run, except out of office.

Note that these are my personal opinions only, and you can probably tell which way I will vote in the primaries.

Now, fire away, my abestos suit with halomethane injection is armed and ready. I won’t burn in the ensuing backdraft! Suffocate, maybe, burn, no :)

the hatred from the right, its mind boggling. What the hell did she ever do to anyone to deserve such hate.

Sarah Palin has a record of fighting corruption/cronyism.

There's a $15 Trillion Gravy Train serving the greed of crooks on both sides of the aisle, and all of them see Sarah Palin as a threat to that gravy train.

The corrupt-o-crats don't care if the whole country collapses. They must figure that only us peons in flyover country will experience unpleasantness. They couldn't be more wrong about that. The inner-city yutes will have most of the establishment pukes roasting on a barbeque grill before they can get to the airport.

I think, despite avid discussion, that 99 percent of us are on board that whomever, aside from Mitt Romney, gets the nomination will be on board to help them become president.

The most recent polls supposedly show that by a wide margin Sarah Palin should not run for president in 2012. One of those, for Fox News, was run by a PERRY pollster!

Commentators say the reason is that she is “too polarizing.” How is she? Which voters say she is? What are the issues which make her too polarizing? I submit that Governor Sarah Palin cares about the things most of us do and that she is only “polarizing” because the media has given her a false persona.

Secondly, who was the “most polarizing” person to ever run for president? Barack Obama. He is a socialist running in a capitalist America. He is in favor of social issues like the infanticide of babies born in botched abortions, partial birth abortion and is weak on the “Defense of Marriage Act.”

I submit that “polarizing” depends on who’s speaking! Voters, never let the media pre-decide who runs for office for you. Furthermore, vote your convictions. Quit listening to naysayers. If your candidate falls into a lower stratum before your state votes in a primary, go ahead and vote your convictions. Don’t let the early voters cast your ballot for you.

Oh good. Glad to hear that.

Would you say the same thing about Palin supporters who post “nasty remarks” about Perry or George W. Bush backers? Would you also be shocked?

For those who support people who are — GASP — ACTUALLY DECLARED CANDIDATES — would you also accept the concept that “the main objective is to get Obama out of office?”

Should supporters of Palin also support your exhortation to “stop fighting amongst each other” ?

What say you, pious ones?

Bottom line: Palin supporters, launch all the names and invective that you wish. I couldn’t care less. If that floats your boat, please sneer away.

Just stop whining when you get back what you have thrown out at others.

Non-Palin supporters care about one thing, and one thing only: Get rid of Obama and replace Dear Leader with the most conservative, God-fearing, country-loving, tax-cutting, budget-slashing, constitution-respecting, military-supporting, Islamo-fascist-battling candidate possible

If she declares, I will vote for her, but can’t tell my wife. She is strongly conservative, but will not vote for a women as president. I don’t get it.

Your wife also opposes female pastors as do I. She is a Proverbs wife,(Proverbs 31:10-31) strong and effective yet second in command to her husband.

Your wife ignores the effective leadership of Ruth, Catherine the Great, Joan of Arc, Queen Elizabeth, Golda Mier, Margaret Thatcher and other women of Biblical proportion who were gifted and led by God to lead their people out of the chaos of their time. We yearn for just such a woman of justice and vision today.

It is women, in times of great injustice and trouble, who can see the way forward most clearly. They have the fortitude, the sacrificial nature and the servants heart to lead without personal glory. They are invariably supported by men of honor whose love for them and whose belief in their dignity is unflinching.

It is quite simply the nature of the Proverbs woman to lead by her commitment to eternal principles.

I would recommend looking through the below thread to see very good examples of the cult of personality that has cropped up with some supporters of Palin.

Calls to purge all who do not support her (here at the Free Republic) are some of the more glaring examples.

That's exactly why there's the full court press by the republican intelligentsia to marginalize her once again- the people in Iowa *should* be that passionate about one of the existing candidates now! So they think.

Instead of hiding behind their Ivy League degrees and RINOism, perhaps they should be asking this question: why don't any of the existing candidates inspire the passion and support Palin does?

The don’t answer the phone if they don’t recognize the number and as you said haven’t been politically active. They basically want to live their lives and be left alone.

I agree with you, I am now living in a very nice rural farming community. Frankly it’s the pits economically. And what’s been happening over the last few years is just criminal. Business after business is closing their doors. Why? Over-regulation and Overseas manufacturing.

The Overseas manufacturing could not and still does not beat the quality of the products that were being manufactured here. But Cost of Labor? Oh yeah, they beat us all the way. Just can’t beat paying pennies over dollars for the same labor input.
