The Petermann Glacier seen in August, 2009. The cliffs on the left are about 3,000 feet high, about the same height as three Eiffel Towers or more than two Willis Towers.
Taken nearly two years after the picture above, this photo shows the extent of the ice loss. The channel is about ten miles wide.

A lot of people forget that Rommel and Montgomery spent months fighting over that narrow strip of land between the depression and the coast precisely because it was impossible to do a flanking maneuver. It was only when the Americans got involved and Rommel had to spread out his forces defending two fronts that Montgomery broke through.
I think we both know what the Global Warming fascists would do if any serious proposal to dig the short ditch from the ocean to the northeast corner of the depression ever got underway but it would still be fun to expose the hypocrisy.
Yes, glaciers do calve icebergs. Since we are on the edge of the next ice age it’s no surprise that this glacier is producing such massive icebergs.
It find it rather amusing that these Leftists who call themselves climate scientists have discovered that icebergs melt!
I’m holding the deed to it, anybody want to buy an island? ;^)
As the ice builds up in the interior the ice will begin to flow down hill. The leading edge of the ice on the seacoast will calve large and small icebergs. That is all that is going on here.
Been doing it for millions of years.
You can send all the runoff to Texas.
