Old brands never die — they just fade away until someone figures a way to capitalize on the nostalgia for them.
From candy to retailers, even the biggest names can fall out of favor. Some disappear forever while others just become harder to find.
Eventually — if enough folks start playing "remember when?" — someone will take notice and try to cash in.
Remember Narragansett Beer? Rhode Island-based Narragansett Brewing opened for business in 1890. In 1981, the original Cranston brewery was closed and due to poor management by Falstaff (which had bought the brand in 1965) andproduction came to a near stand-still. at&t was a monopoly most of its life. it went broke and the name was salvaged by a former baby bell.

I was just talking to my daughter about this the other day. I was telling her how in was in Jurrasic times. : ) When ATT WAS the phone co. nationwide. Now with the advent of cell phones we have Verizon, ATT and Sprint gobbling up smaller cell companies...soon ATT may very well be the only phone company once again! Weird.

Chiclets ARE still around. The author didn’t bother to note that Chiclets were the first marketed gum (originally made from chicle).
Tab is relatively easy to find, as well.
Diet Rite, not Tab, started the diet cola thing, and Diet Pepsi was about as big as Tab. Fanta (to respond tosomeone else is Very much alive and even promoted. Pepsi’s Slice, briefly popular, seems to have disappeared, though the older and more obscure Patio barely exists in some areas.
Before anyone dissed Hydrox... THEY invented the product, which Nabisco stole. Hydrox was popular in Jewish areas because they were kosher. Nabisco used to use lard in everything except Triscuits. Hydrox still exists only as a topping I kosher friendly Carvel Ice Cream shops afaik.
