Sitting here doing laundry and started thinking about what television series had/has the best theme song. I have two and I can't decide.
Bonanza and NCIS (Original series)
Anyone else?

I am either the first serious responder to this thread topic, or else I am the only one to have actually watched television. The theme song to “Firefly” is so obviously the correct response that, having been now given, the subject can be considered safely and firmly settled and the thread closed. I've got some bad news for you: Fox did take the sky from you.

Trumps Apprentice Show is the best....
1) Best score(music)..
2) Best best sentiment...
3) Best lead in video snippets..

You're mistaken.
That was just the theme to "The Jeffersons" you were seeing. ;-)

Ah, speaking of The Greatest American Hero, another great theme song was from Crazy Like A Fox. It was pretty much a real original rock n roll tune. I loved that show and got the entire series DVD collection many moons ago.

Great thread!
"Gathering Crowds" is THE best theme song for any television series -- by a wide margin. It's the theme song from the 1980s era for the weekly television series This Week in Baseball.
I still get chills up my neck whenever I hear this. If you can listen to the full version of it on a good stereo system with the bass on high, it's unbelievable:
Gathering Crowds
For prime-time television shows, it's hard to match the theme from "Hill Street Blues." But I also agree with the other poster who suggested "Friday Night Lights."
