Sitting here doing laundry and started thinking about what television series had/has the best theme song. I have two and I can't decide.

Bonanza and NCIS (Original series)

Anyone else?

“Clevland Rocks”

Drew Carey

The Virginian.

Friday Night Lights and Dallas. Just a coincidence they both take place in Texas.

“Mannix”

followed closely by

“Mission Impossible”

Taxi was nice. Barney Miller was cool. But I’m gonna have to go with Quincy Jones’ Sanford and Son theme, The StreetBeater.

I would have to put in for two Sherwood Schwarz titles: The Brady Bunch and Gilligan’s Island. Three generations know all of the words and tunes, and the premises of the shows is deftly laid out for first-time viewers.

I also have a soft spot for the short-lived Logan’s Run theme, with its laser gun percussion.

[Dr. Sivana]

For mood setting, I would also vote for The Prisoner and Peter Gunn (perhaps the best example of a theme song being VASTLY better and longer-lived than the show.)

Magnificent Seven, the TV series.

Many TV programs have memorable theme songs.

Gilligan's Island, Green Acres, Beverly Hillbillies, Brady Bunch, Peter Gunn, Perry Mason, etc.

And of course, the final jeopardy theme from Jeopardy.

[Dr. Sivana]

Oh, and as the composer died just last week, let’s put in a word for Perry Mason (Park Avenue Beat).

JONNY QUEST—The ORIGINAL Series!

Combat! Quinn-Martin Production.

I always liked Gilligan’s theme song because it told a story, but this song from the Branded series w/Chuck Conners was excellent, IMO. Part was at the beginning of the show, the conclusion at the end of the show.

Green Acres is the place to be!
