man threw his pack at the grizzly....bear stopped charging, tore into the pack and ate the food inside...euthanized the male...Were pretty sure that he was starting to associate humans with food
This is a standard the tea party shold adopt. Politicians, beware lobbyists.
Isn’t it about time we kept humans out of the wild animals habitat? We invade their territory and they get killed?
I’m surprised they euthanised the bear.
The rampant “huggatree” philosophy they have in the Park Service these days is ridiculous.
Isn't it about time people like you realize that the wilds are also human habitat and we have a perfect right to be there, and to defend themselves while they are there. The only thing this hiker did wrong was not take a big enough gun in with him so he could have killed the bear himself instead of having the park service do it.
Were pretty sure that he was starting to associate humans with food, Yellowstone spokesman Dan Hottle said Tuesday.”
Ya think?
Or maybe he wanted to see if the guy had a flashlight in his backpack.
major 'DUH' award. Humans=food
No, it’s our habitat too. We simply have to accept there are winners and losers.
The watermelons would like nothing better.
Exactly. He could have shot at the ground in an attempt to scare the bear away. Throwing his pack at the bear and the bear finding food inside does indeed teach the bear to associate humans with food.
Excellent point. I nearly forgot that term.
I didn’t see anything to indicate he had a gun with him.
I didn’t either. The point the other poster and I was making was that the parks don’t allow you to carry firearms to defend yourself. We should be allowed to go into the wild and should be able to defend ourselves. If the guy had had a gun, it may have been possible to scare the bear away without him getting the pack with the food inside.
Long shot though. A bear that is already approaching is already up to no good.
wuddiday do, make him take a personality profile?

Did you forget the sarcasm tag?
After I finished, I opened the door, and stared directly into the face of a big black bear, about a foot away. Needless to say I slammed the door shut. After a while, I heard my Mom calling and I hollered and told her there was a bear at the door.
About 15 campers all got a bunch of pots and pans and banged on them with spatulas and big spoons. This succeeded in driving the bear away. Since then, bears have become increasing used to people and more and more of a danger in the parks. You could not pay me enough money to go hiking there now.

Mebbe you should lock yourself in your parente’s basement and play with your teddy bears, eh? SHEEESH

Now, you can carry if you have a concealed carry permit. If the state you are in allows open carry, you can open carry.
The above was put through thanks to the efforts and long years of hard work by the 2nd Amendment groups, and President Bush signed that law into effect as he said he would.
Those people could, and should, have been armed.
