Cats vs. Dogs. I still miss both of our knuckleheads. There was nothing funnier nor sweeter than seeing our 8 lb. orange tiger stripe cat curled up like a cinnamon roll between the legs of our 140 lb. bullmastiff.

I like them both. You can go away for weekend and leave cats water and food, and they won't eat everything on the first day like a dog will.

They both have desirable traits, in different ways.

Dogs, trained to be fighters, watch dogs, herders, circus performers, etc. ... they are rewarded with food and a place to sleep.

Cats chase the occasional mouse and sleep the rest of the time ... they are rewarded with food and a place to sleep.

And they say dogs are smarter, please.

;-)

This seems like a good place to ask if any Freepers know a SE Texas breeder with Spitz or Border Collies. I recently lost my 11 year old Spitz and am feeling sort of hollow without her company. I've been checking classifieds and even emailed the AKC local chapter to inquire but with no luck. There is a glut of Yorkies, Bulldogs and Poodles in the ads, but they're not for me. I need a smart dog with an attitude, confident and not docile.

I'm near the gulf coast but travel North quite often, so anything up to Tyler would be ok.

If anyone on this thread thinks that dogs aren’t man’s best friend.... Try the following test.....

Lock your dog and your wife in the trunk of your car for one hour....

After the one hour is up, open the trunk and see who’s happy to see you....

Cats are disgusting and selfish creatures. It is little wonder that they are the favored pet among liberals.

I don’t understand people who “hate on” either. But there are more cat-haters than dog - what does that say about “dog” people?

I love both animals.

Although, dogs vary so widely whereas no other animal does. I generally could take any cat, but I’m very particular about dogs. German Shepherds all the way; everything else is questionable. ;-)

Cats definitely rule, but absent those, then snakes are the way to go.

Cats are FAR superior to dogs ...dogs are just mimics who want to please their owners....they are followers and Democrats. That is why cats outnumber dogs in household pets.

We recall *Cairo* the specially trained super-dog that was in operation Geronimo that took out Bin Laden.

From a tortuous article from the NewYorker about the raid:'As James talked about the raid, he mentioned Cairo’s role. “There was a dog?” Obama interrupted. James nodded and said that Cairo was in an adjoining room, muzzled, at the request of the Secret Service.

“I want to meet that dog,” Obama said.

“If you want to meet the dog, Mr. President, I advise you to bring treats,” James joked. Obama went over to pet Cairo, but the dog’s muzzle was left on.'

This illustrates a dog can be trained to Navy Seal standards; trained to attack a Muslim when they smell one; which is why the SS had Cairo's muzzle left on, when he met the great pretender.

I rest my case, as to which critter is better. Do the Seals train cats?
