Yeah, but if you have a tragic accident while alone with your dog the dog will loyally hunker down protecting you until help arrives or they carry your body away. A cat will eventually eat your face.

The best answer of all. God put them both here to ease man's sojourn in this vale of tears and it shouldn't be either/or in respect to God's gifts.
No only did our two cats eat everything the first day, but also they opened a cupboard, dragged out the bag of cat kibble, opened it and ate a goodly portion of that too.
They were both less than six months old at the time, and they were noticeably larger when we got back on Sunday afternoon than they were on Friday evening.
And they had the gall to greet us with looks of wide-eyed innocence when we got home, too. ;-)
