Cat Person Profile Quiz: Results

How many did you answer “yes” to? I think just answering one with a “yes” is enough to qualify you as a “Cat Person.” But the number of yes answers determines the degree.

Your “Cat-ability” Score”

—1 to 4 yes answers: In training - you could do better, but it’s OK, you’re learning.

—5 to 8 yes answers: Moderate - working on it, improving nicely. Potential is there.

—9 to 13 yes answers: Extreme - just about there, almost mastered the art. Keep stretching yourself.

—14 to 17 yes answers: Totally possessed, hopelessly devoted, cat-a-holic. Congratulations! (But you’ll find no 12 step program here!)

Be More Cynical

If you don’t like my driving, don’t call anyone. Just take another road. That’s why the highway department made so many of them.

It’s a small world. So you gotta use your elbows a lot.

It’s always darkest before the dawn. So if you’re going to steal the neighbor’s newspaper, that’s the time to do it.

True Freedom in Christ

“But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.” Romans 6:22

When Jesus Christ comes into your life, He changes you. Maybe you have a problem with drugs or alcohol. Maybe you struggle with lust, fear, doubt, or self- pity. Maybe you’re a slave to public opinion or perfectionism. But I want to tell you that the Jesus Christ who set Adrian Rogers free is the Jesus Christ who will set you free.

Our freedom in Jesus Christ isn’t the privilege to do what we want. Instead it is the glorious, abundant, supernatural power to do what we ought.

It is saving grace that sets us free. It is sustaining grace that keeps us free.

Bow before the Lord and thank Him for the freedom you’ve been given through the great price of Calvary.

Pastor Adrian Rogers

Two campers, both in the 60s are walking through the woods.

A huge brown bear suddenly appeared in the clearing about 50 feet in front of them. The bear spots the campers and begins to head toward them.

Joe drops his backpack, digs out a pair of sneakers, and frantically begins to put them on.

His buddy Jack says, “What are you doing? Sneakers won’t help you outrun that bear.”

“I don’t need to outrun the bear,” Joe says. “I just need to outrun you.”

Towards and Away

One day many years ago, a fisherman’s wife blessed her husband with twin sons. They loved the children very much, but couldn’t think of what to name their children. Finally, after several days, the fisherman said, “Let’s not decide on names right now. If we wait a little while, the names will simply occur to us.”

After several weeks had passed, the fisherman and his wife noticed a peculiar fact. When left alone, one of the boys would always turn towards the sea, while the other boy would
face inland. It didn’t matter which way the parents positioned the children, the same child always faced the same direction. “Let’s call the boys Towards and Away,” suggested the fisherman. His wife agreed, and from that point on, the boys were simply known as TOWARDS and AWAY.

The years passed and the lads grew tall and strong. The day came when the aging fisherman said to his sons, “Boys, it’s time that you learned how to make a living from the
sea.” They provisioned their ship, said their goodbyes, and set sail for a three-month voyage.

The three months passed quickly for the fisherman’s wife, yet the ship had not returned. Another three months passed, and still no ship.

Three whole years passed before the grieving woman saw a lone man walking towards her house. She recognized him as her husband. “My goodness! What has happened to my darling boys?” she cried.

The ragged fisherman began to tell his story:

“We were just barely one whole day out to sea when Towards hooked into a great fish. Towards fought long and hard, but the fish was more than his equal. For a whole week
they wrestled upon the waves without either of them letting up. Yet eventually the great fish started to win the battle, and Towards was pulled over the side of our ship. He was swallowed whole, and we never saw either of them again.”

“Oh dear, that must have been terrible! What a huge fish that must of been! What a horrible fish. What a *horrible, horrible* fish!”

“Yes, it was, but you should have seen the one that got Away!”

Cakes and Ale and Legalism

Here is a purported-to-be-true story someone found regarding exams at Cambridge University. It seems that during an examination one day, a bright young student popped up and asked the proctor to bring him cakes and ale. The following dialog ensued:

Proctor: I beg your pardon?

Student: Sir, I request that you bring me cakes and ale.

Proctor: Sorry, no.

Student: Sir, I really must insist. I request and require that you bring me cakes and ale.

At this point, the student produced a copy of the four hundred-year-old Laws of Cambridge, written in Latin and still nominally in effect, and pointed to the section that read (roughly translated): “Gentlemen sitting examinations may request and require cakes and ale.” Pepsi and hamburgers were judged the modern equivalent, and the student sat there, writing his examination and happily eating and slurping away.

Three weeks later, the student was fined five pounds for not wearing a sword to the examination.

The New Has Come

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come”
(2 Corinthians 5:17, NIV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Everyone loves to get something new. But as a believer in Jesus, you’re not only getting something new, you are something new. You are a brand new creation! Your eternal being, your spirit, is re-created in Christ. The old is gone, the new has come! You may not necessarily feel new right away. That’s because the Bible tells us that we are to “work out” our salvation. That means you have to retrain your body and mind to act, think, speak and live according to God’s ways instead of the old habits you used to have. Don’t ever get stuck in the rut of thinking, “I’ll never change...that’s just the way I am.” No, the Bible says that the Spirit of God aids us in our weakness. He gives us strength to overcome. He empowers us to live as more than conquerors in this life.

Is there something you want to change in your life today? If you’ve received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then start declaring, “I am a new creation in Christ! I am empowered to overcome! I am equipped to walk in the new, abundant life the Lord has in store for me!”

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father in heaven, thank You for making me a new creation. Thank You for empowering me to live as an overcomer. I give this day to You and ask that You help me to fully understand the plan You have for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

— Joel & Victoria Osteen

I’VE always been a worrier. However, I thought when I became a Christian that I would no longer worry or fear. When that didn’t happen, I wondered what I was doing wrong. The story of Elijah gave me insight into the answer. Elijah relied on God day after day for survival, and he witnessed many miracles. He was fed by ravens, ate bread made from a nearly empty jug of oil and jar of flour, and saw a dead boy “restored to life.”

Even though Elijah experienced all this, he was overwhelmed by fear when he heard of Jezebel’s promise to kill him. Elijah depended on his own strength and eventually prayed for death. It wasn’t until Elijah finally sought God that he was able to rest.

I was encouraged to see that fear and worry are common and normal emotions. I also realized that I should focus my effort not on eliminating emotion but on seeking God. God does not promise to deliver us from every difficulty. But we are promised that God will respond when we call, that God will give us the ability to get through the tough times. We can experience incomprehensible peace if we remember to seek God.

Sitting at a table in the clubhouse after a game, Joe said to a fellow club member, “I’m not about to play golf with Jim Walsh anymore.”

“Why not?”

“Well, he found his lost ball two feet from the green.”

“That’s possible.”

“Not when I had the ball in my pocket!”

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
