After a global financial crisis, the US government enacted stricter laws to protect people from questionable banking practices. Banks had to change some of their policies to comply. To notify me of such changes, my bank sent me a letter. But when I got to the end I had more questions than answers. The use of phrases like we may and at our discretion certainly didnt sound like anything I could depend on!
In contrast, the Old Testament quotes God as saying I will numerous times. God promises David: I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever (2 Sam. 7:12-13). No uncertainty in those words. Recognizing Gods faithfulness to His promises, King Solomon says in his prayer of dedication for the temple: You have kept what You promised Your servant David my father; You have both spoken with Your mouth and fulfilled it with Your hand (2 Chron. 6:15). Centuries later, the apostle Paul said that all of Gods promises are yes in Christ (2 Cor. 1:20).
In a world of uncertainty, our trust is in a faithful God who will always keep His promises.
Read: 2 Chronicles 6:1-11
An archaeologist was digging in the Negev Desert in Israel and came upon a casket containing a mummy. After examining it, he called the curator of a prestigious natural-history museum.
“I’ve just discovered a 3,000 year-old mummy of a man who died of heart failure!” the excited scientist exclaimed.
To which the curator replied, “Bring him in. We’ll check it out.”
A week later, the amazed curator called the archaeologist. “You were right about the mummy’s age and cause of death. How in the world did you know?”
“Easy. There was a piece of paper in his hand that said, ‘10,000 Shekels on Goliath’.”
Who Told You?
TODAYS SCRIPTURE
You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a young man, and he has been a warrior from his youth
(1 Samuel 17:33, NIV)
TODAYS WORD from Joel and Victoria
Are you stuck in a rut today because of the negative words that have been spoken over you in the past? In todays verse, we see that before David faced Goliath, he heard the accusing voices. But instead of listening to what others said, he chose to listen to what God said. He knew he was called, chosen and equipped to defeat that giant; and today, you are called, chosen and equipped for victory, too!
Remember what we say every week at Lakewood, I am who God says I am. What were saying in effect is I am not who my chemistry teacher says I am. I am not who my ex-husband or ex-wife says I am. I am not who my critics say I am, and nowadays, I am not who the bloggers say I am. I am who God says I am. That means we are anointed. We are equipped. We are talented. We are redeemed. We are blessed. We have the favor of God!
Today, if youve been held back by negative words spoken over you, ask yourself, Who told me Im not tall enough? Who told me Im just average? Who told me that Im not that talented? Let go and forgive those people. Stop listening to the wrong voices and take the limits off of your life!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word which so beautifully directs my steps. Today I step forward in confidence knowing that You are with me. I shake off negative words from the past and choose to forgive those who have hurt me. Thank You for leading me into victory! In Jesus Name. Amen.

The roofers are already here and they didn’t leave until 8:15 last night. I’ll be sooooo glad when they are finished. I will rest up a few days before I call the man who’s going to put up new gutters, etc. I hope we never have another storm like that one that did all this damage!! I cannot even imagine how those poor folks felt in the places they lost EVERYTHING. When I think of them, I stop pitying myself.

One of my saying is “God's will ... will be, of that we can be sure”.
We take or attempt to take on too much responsibility for circumstances beyond our control. Or we have an illusion of control when it is unfounded. MOO.
God is ever present and he is acting to teach us of him. Are we paying attention?
