We have a group here ... over in Odessa that sends one thousand boxes a month "HOT" (honor our troops), to our service men and women overseas, Iraq and Afghanistan. Great idea. They will send a box with needed items (wipes, lip balm, candy (hard), a book, cookies, hand cream, toothpaste, and other small items that we take for granted but miss terribly if we do not have them: for $25.00 each box, postage and all. It is a morale booster and it is a terrific program.
Our Sunday School class sends about $500.00 worth every 6 -8 months or so. It does help us to think of our men and women, some exceedingly young, "HOT", welcome any and all donations. They are a 501c designation for being tax deductible contributions.
They have been doing this for 5 years or more. It started small, but volunteers have grown it into an ongoing out put of 1000 boxes a month.
This indeed is a work blessed of God. Thank you, Lord, for inspiring us to step forward and actually do thy work in an on going manner. We pray for the well being of our troops fighting for peace and freedom in a foreign land. May thy presence be with them in a way they can mot miss, bless them, Father, we love thee, Lord, in Jesus name amen.

A Poem for New Puppy Owners
Don't smell crotches, don't eat plants.
Don't steal food or underpants.
Don't eat my socks, don't grab my hair...
DON'T RIP THE STUFFING FROM THAT CHAIR!
Don't eat those peas, don't touch that bush,
Don't chew my shoes, what IS this mush?!?
Eat your cookies, drink your drink,
Outta the toilet! Outta the sink!
AWAY FROM THE LITTER BOX, IT'S FOR THE CAT!
(and must you kiss me after that?!?)
Raising a puppy is not for the lazy,
Those rugrats are funny but also quite crazy.
Don't despair through the toil and the strife,
'Cause after three years you'll get back your life!
So let's go for walkies, so you can do your "thing",
And maybe I'll get back my good diamond ring!

Precious really. Very like a young toddler.
Adding joy and life along with a bit of trouble to those who love and care for each of them.

That poem is like a cross between Shakespeare and Dr. Seuss!
It brought a tear....:-)

Amy, I love the puppy and that is the cutest poem possible. It perfectly describes raising a new puppy...been there, done that....many times! (and the children always promised if I would get “that” dog, they would do everything for it.) How many times did I fall for that? Many times, but in the end, all my dogs were so special and loved so much. (cats too)
Will be tied up this afternoon and tomorrow with the roofers! After all, I am the head supervisor....LOL!

Ahhh ... poor baby.
I should have 'seeked' and ignored the windows. :)
Hubby volunteered to help do windows this morning. How could I refuse?

Thank you for being here everyday, Rus.
I look forward to your early morning visits.
To: JustAmy
I guess if someone volunteers to do windows, no-one could turn that down. I remember when I had replacement windows installed, my girlfriend said, “I’ve got a little secret for you...you’re still not gonna like cleaning windows!” And my friend was right. I clean one window at a time when I feel up to it. (which is very seldom anymore!)

LOL
So true but even more so for child rearing Grammas. Grampas are the fun ‘parent’. :-)

Hello Conor, I always enjoy seeing that particular rose. The pink rose with a touch of yellow, my mother used to call them Talisman roses. I think there is one like that but I may have misspelled the word....LOL!
Hope your day is flying by and soon you can be on the way ‘home’....!
