Dried swim bladders of fish? Gag me with a spoon!
Found the old measurements:
1 wine glass = ¼ cup/2 ounces
1 jigger = 1.5 fluid ounces
1 gill = ½ cup/4 ounces (or 5 in the UK, generally)
1 teacup = a scant ¾ cup/almost 6 ounces
1 coffee cup = a scant cup/almost 8 ounces
1 tumbler = 1 cup/8 ounces
1 pint = 2 cups/16 ounces
1 quart = 4 cups/32 ounces
Oh, isinglass isn’t all that bad. It was the first material used as roll-up “windows” in open carriages and buggies.
Awesome vegetables!
I see you are growing zucchini - if you have one or two that you miss and they get real big - those are great for stuffed zucchini.
Cut lengthwise, scoop out middle- may want to microwave a bit to cut down on baking time.
(I do the same stuffed pepper filling but will throw in chunks of zucchini into the mix)
(just fry them up a bit with the hamburger)
**actually - throw in chunks of zucchini into your stuffed peppers too**
Yummy! I like them better than stuffed peppers!
Here's your Award! :>)
A “beer cock” sounds like a personal problem. Call a doctor.
ahem, that picture needs a recipe to go with it! lol
Had to force myself away from that site! Will visit it often I am thinking:)
There’s a tip worth remembering!
Didn’t heed the warning. One guess where I’ll be this afternoon, evening, tomorrow...
YAY
Now THAT, by G-d, is a zucchini! Geez, that thing’ll last until Halloween.
Mine is similar to yours, except I caramelize onions, add to the meatloaf mixed 50/50 w/cooked rice and the sauce is 1/2 ketchup/1/2 brown sugar stirred together and allowed to sit for a bit so the sugar blends with the moisture from the ketchup. I add some of the sauce to the meat/onion/rice mixture before stuffing and pour over some more sauce. Any excess sauce can be served on the side.It has a BBQ flavor.
You can shorten the cooking time by partially browning the meat mixture before combining, in the hot pan, with onions, cooked rice and enough sauce to prevent sticking. Stir everything together for a couple of minutes to blend. It will be a looser mixture, more like Sloppy Joes than Salisbury Steak.
Add 1” of water to bottom of the roasting pan to insure the peppers steam through.
Not a rasperry cream pie but how about a chocolate saurkraut cake? No, really, they’re great! The kraut gives it just a slight different flavor but it’s a good taste, not what you’d think. The chopped saurkraut itself chews like large pieces of coconut and the cake is very moist and dense.
Saurkraut Cake
One box of the richest darkest fudge chocolate cake boxed mix or homemade recipe you can find. A regular chocolate or german chocolate mix doesn’t work.
Add one can of regular saurkraut that’s been drained, rinsed, and chopped. Use the regular plain saurkraut, not the kind with the extra spicy seeds.
Make and bake as directed. It’s rich enough not to need a frosting but a cream cheese frosting takes it over the top.
Chewy!
My wife and I had one half of it stuffed for supper last night - turned out great! I shredded the other half and froze it to use make a few zucchini breads.

No kidding A FEW breads...g!
Candied chicken! Sounds good.
Invest in a bottle of Dawn Power Dissolve (usually found on the same shelf as Dawn Dishwashing). Rinse out the pan and spray the cooked on stuff with the Power Dissolve. Let sit while you eat. The gunk will dissolve to a soft brown goo and be easily washed off. This is also a godsend for stuck on popcorn when someone has to make popcorn the old fashioned way and forgets to shake the pot enough. The Power Dissolve will also take off old stains from Pyrex, but will take more elbow grease and sometimes a Mr. Clean white scrubbing pad.
SAIL BOAT CAKE trimmed with (what else?) life savers.
Sunny Sail Boat Eggs
Half hard boiled eggs lengthwise. Set pretzel into
yolk. Thread cheese triangle onto pretzel for sail.
