A former employee at the Taco Bell / KFC at Transit and Losson Roads in Depew chose to make a bold statement when he decided to leave his position at the restaurant.
The employee left a message on the fast food restaurant's exterior sign Thursday night announcing he had quit. The sign reads, "I quit - Adam / **** you :)"
Welcome, readers from Fark and The Daily What! Here are some other stories you might like:
A co-worker of the supposed sign maker at Taco Bell / KFC tells News 4 that Adam is a shift manager at the restaurant who was denied time-off on the Fourth of July.
Adam claims he had worked 22 straight days and deserved the holiday off but was not granted it, despite the fact that other employees were allowed to take the day off.
Most people we spoke to found the sign amusing, and agreed with the stance the employee took. What do you think? Vote in the poll on this page and leave a comment below.
I remember being poor. During those times, restaurant work was essential to keeping me alive. I worked at Domino’s, Pizza Hut, a local restaurant.
If my manager had given me 22 days in a row, I would have thanked him.
Which is why I’m now living in a nice house with a big garden, I suppose.
Really, what does Adam hope to accomplish? Oh sure, he’ll get a lot of support from the usual whiners who will complain about his rights being violated and so on. However, in these troubled economic times, there are going to be a number of unemployed persons more than willing to take his place. Taco Bell/KFC isn’t going to suffer. So Adam will get his proverbial 15 minutes of fame, but in the end he will be forgotten.
Adam needs a little motivational speech. He is probably on his way to moving to a van down by the river!
When you have to work 22 days in a row he had no time to smoke weed and play X-Box 360
Remember Julio who worked for McDonalds when Obama was campaigning? This is today’s Julio.
I had a job once, where I had to work 6 months in a row, in a hot greasy factory.
My 20 year old grandson decided college was not for him and had trouble finding a full-time job so about three months ago ended up with 2 part-time jobs, each 6 hours a day, 6 days a week. He volunteered to work 4th of July at both because they paid double time for the holiday. He was elated! Loves watching his bank balance go up.
What a reference for his next job app. “Adam?...weren’t you that guy on the news that abruptly quit at Taco Bell?”
I remember those days. I worked at Mickey D’s and I lied about my age (16/18) to work at Tire America. Both part time but I was the best paid kid in high school. I was caught about the age thing after my boss saw me working the drive thru (across the street from TA) but did such a good job he kept it between us and I went full time (yes I graduated too.) Thank goodness the TA job was the one that spawned my career.
Our troops work 24-7. What is wrong with these blood sucking kids?
You do not make a mark for yourself as a man (or a woman) if you force people to work 22 days in a row.
What did the Lord say? Take one day a week off, no manual labor, and dedicate it to Him. As it turns out, the Boss knew what He was talking about. Not taking a break from one's work can do awful things for both the employee, and his/her family. (And if that kind of a schedule is happening regularly, there will be a distinct lack of family.)
Now, did this guy do the wrong thing in announcing it on the sign? Did he destroy his future job prospects both by doing this and by using a swear word? Yes. That is his fault.
But forcing people to work over three weeks straight, without a break, (and who knows how long that pattern has been going on) is also wrong.
Trust me (15 years in the Silicon Valley), that kind of pattern can be a life-wrecker.
Wow! Where did he get a letter set with four asterisks in it?

Well, our troops get to shoot back.
Not all of our troops are in war zones, but dont think they have it easy.
Oh yeah, and you can take off whenever you want to.
Adam should try working for a start-up. Several months with double digit hour days and several consecutive months with no time off.
People do it every day.
Am curious though why with a few million people looking for work that the KFC manager staffed his restaurant so poorly that someone HAD to work 22 days in a row. Not like qualified help is hard to find.
I agree. Some Freepers need to get perspective here. Even the Lord Almighty took a break when he created the earth.
Sure he was a drama queen with the sign. BUT 22 days straight, 8 hour shifts, well, I would be pissed and I actually did a FREAKIN 2 MONTHS straight back in junior college because I had bills to pay. If I did not have bills to pay, I would not have done 2 DAMN MONTHS straight of work I truly hated because I needed the break to concentrate on my major back in jr. college to get to university. Easier said than done...
Perhaps being a slave and not working is really your forte.
He should have just quit and left it at that. I left one job at Day 36 in a row. Had to listen to a boss tell me how lucky I had it.
Have fun in the unemployment lines
