LB, it will be a while longer before heading south. We are in no hurry to get back into very hot weather, and Texas may burn up before we get there (hope not!)

Thought I would check in. Things here in Eastern New Mexico just continue to get worse. We sold all of our calves. They weighed 200 lbs. less than they did last year. Also culled 40 cows and 5 bulls, decision made on age and body condition. The grass is just all gone and no hay, so we will start selling cows 100 at a time. Really just the most heartbreaking time in our lives as ranchers. Everyone doing the same thing. Everyone stock up on meat, because next year thesuppy will not be there. The supply chain starts with the bull and cow and they are being killed by the semi loads every day. Oh well I serve an awesome God and I know he watches over me, so I must run and get ready for church. Denco

I continue to pray for rain and some relief to the horrible conditions ranchers and farmers are facing.

Thanks for the tip. I made a decision last week to plug in our chest freezer and stock up on meats.

There was a lively discussion this weekend at the family reunion. It mainly centered around those who thought I might make it to this decadale mark, and those who (like me) assumed that: "Oh, hell, no, he won't make it. He lives too rough."

To everyone's suprise, including mine, I DID.

And I'm as grumpy as ever. And very thankful for the friends I made here on ATRW over the years.

All my love for my friends here, even the ones that are gone.

Ya know, I miss you guys. I keep living life and have stories to tell about.... well... life. And there isn't an ATRW anymore.

Where do I tell the trebouchet stories? Or that there are actually 3 pianos in my near reach... Although I can't play the grand anymore, the action is too stiff for my frost damaged arms (don't type nearly as fast, either). But the 'lektrik piano, that, I can play, badly as I do.

I have that picture that someone posted on FR printed out and posted on the wall.

My brother saw it a while back and asked what that picture was, and why it was up?

I 'splained it was just an old, dead, Missisippi Police Chief, that was like an uncle to me.

I guess my tears clued him that Toby might be important to me, even if my brother had no clue who he was. Toby will not be forgotten.
