Finding showing human ancestor older than previously thought offers new insights into evolution

Homo erectus is widely considered a direct human ancestor -- it resembles modern humans in many respects, except for its smaller brain and differently shaped skull -- and was the first of our ancestors to migrate out of Africa, approximately 1.8 million years ago. Homo erectus went extinct in Africa and much of Asia by about 500,000 years ago, but appeared to have survived in Indonesia until about 35,000 to 50,000 years ago at the site of Ngandong on the Solo River. These late members of Homo erectus would have shared the environment with early members of our own species, Homo sapiens, who arrived in Indonesia by about 40,000 years ago.

The existence of the two species simultaneously has important implications for models about the origins of modern humans. One of the models, the Out of Africa or replacement model, predicts such overlap. However, another, the multiregional model, which posits that modern humans originated as a result of genetic contributions from hominin populations all around the Old World (Africa, Asia, Europe), does not. The late survival of Homo erectus in Indonesia has been used as one line of support for the Out of Africa model.

However, findings by the SoRT Project show that Homo erectus' time in the region ended before modern humans arrived there. The analyses suggest that Homo erectus was gone by at least 143,000 years ago -- and likely by more than 550,000 years ago... and both of these ages are older than the earliest Homo sapiens fossils in Indonesia. Thus, the authors concluded that the idea of a population of Homo erectus surviving until late in time in Indonesia and potentially interacting with Homo sapiens seems to have been disproven.

Say what you want about evolution (I think it is unsupported by the facts), these guys are at least honest enough to use the scientifically correct term "model" since it cannot be reproduced.

Nothing about macro-evolution makes sense, except in a specious way. E.G., if you can find specimen which can show a lineage among big apes on all fours to humans, humans must have “evolved” from these other creatures. Right? WRONG!
Common sense tells us that the early birds would have encountered insurmountable problems before it developed wings, or the ability to build nests. And spiders would have had to coax their prey like a Democrat to get it close enough for blood sucking, if it couldn’t yet spin a web. Yeah, it’s silly. Bob

But that makes it fun.

Evolution states that not only were there eggs long before the chicken but that the first chicken egg was laid by something other than a chicken.
The theory sounds so right and so sublime and explains everything about the origin of species but as far as empirical data is concerned,it is but another faith in “the best theory so far” that presumes objectivity and thus academic dominance through relying on the straw grasping “scientific consensus” rather than science itself--the same kind of "consensus" that reaffirmed the authenticity of Piltdown Man for several decades. (funny but the biological components of Piltdown Man,though fake, would be the logical results of the strict interpretation of natural selection--man being man because he has the brain and not having the brain because he is man). I think,as long as genetic research in support of Darwin is inhibited by the inviolable commandments of the uncertainty principle in quantum mechanics--DNA components being so small and thus subject to the random laws of sub-atomic physics--ID will always have a place until rationally displaced and replaced by concrete facts without Leftist secular politically motivated hatred of all things metaphysical and thus not under THEIR totalitarian control.

Homo erectus is widely considered a direct human ancestor --

Only by idiots and people with no familiarity with basic logic. The Neanderthal has been ruled out as a plausible ancestor for modern man because the genetic gap is too wide and erectus is considerably further removed from us than the neanderthal.

The only "insight" anybody needs to grasp wrt evolution is that evolution is a bunch of BS and, as junk science goes, a particularly harmful and dangerous variety of it. The fruit fly experiments should have ended the debate decades ago.

What you wrote up there is just a lot of foul and barely coherent invective.

Other than that, probably no response from me is necessary.

Evolution is a big lie. I’m not the one promulgating big lies here.

Your lack of facts suggests that, yeah, you are.

It’s culture that effects genetic modification, NOT vice versa

Humans’ Cultural Evolution Rate Shown To Have Slowed Down.

Drive Of Natural Genetic Modifications

“how species come to be…”
sciencenews.org/index/feature/activity/view/id/331382/title/Evolution%E2%80%99s_Wedges

What drives “species come to be” is what drives all life/organisms to come to be, i.e. a proven successful route, circumstantially evolved culture, that enhanced the RNAs’ constrained energy by the culturally enhanced RNAs’ proliferation, followed with accordingly alternatively spliced expression.

This is evolution, i.e. enhanced constrained energy to delay-postpone the universal conversion of mass-formats to energy, to the energy that keeps fueling the expansion of the universe. This expansion will be overcome by gravity upon depletion of the universe’s massfuel, and will be followed by empansion for accelerating reverting of energy to mass all the way back to singularity. The universe is an allmass allenergy poles affair.

PS:
- It’s culture that modifies genetics, that changes gene’s expression. NOT vice versa.
- Epigenetics YOK. Alternative splicing is epiDNAtic, not epigenetic.
- ALL life is RNAs evolution products. RNAs are Earth’s prime organism.
